June 24, 2026 — Ariana sings thank u, next at her Austin, TX show with new lyrics “Wrote some songs about Ricky, and they still kinda slap” instead of the original “now I listen and laugh” This is the first hint of a reconnection.

June 25, 2026 — Ariana and Ricky Alvarez are spotted at a restaurant together in Austin, TX.

June 26, 2026 — According to sources close to TMZ, the two have been hanging out recently but they are not back together. It is said Ariana has friends in town for her birthday, including Ricky.

Ricky attends night 2 of the Eternal Sunsine tour in Austin, TX. Ariana changes the thank u, next lyrics to “Wrote some songs about Ricky, I know he still got my back” She keeps this version of the lyrics until she changes it again a couple weeks later.

A fan video shows Ricky in the crowd at this moment, turning to shake her father’s hand. He also leaves with her family after the show.

June 27, 2026 — Ariana follows Ricky's mother, sister, and brother-in-law on Instagram.

June 30, 2026 — Ariana posts a photo dump to instagram, the last slide being a picture of a moon. The same moon Ricky had just posted to his instagram stories. This is a callback to the song Moonlight.

July 5, 2026 — Ariana and Ricky are spotted grocery shopping in her hometown of Boca Raton, Florida for the holiday weekend.

July 7, 2026 — PEOPLE is told by a source that Ariana “really trusts” Ricky.

“Ricky has always been a friend and confidant. She really trusts him. He has such great, positive energy, makes her laugh and she enjoys spending time with him.”

July 8, 2026 — Ariana mass likes all of Ricky’s instagram posts starting from January 2025 to now. From here, they respectively begin liking each other’s posts in real time.

July 13, 2026 — During her show in Brooklyn, NY Ariana changes thank u, next lyrics to “Wrote some songs about Ricky, we always find our way back.”

July 14, 2026 — TMZ and People magazine report that Ariana and Ricky are officially back together.

“Ariana has always considered Ricky a friend. She’s not held ill will against him [since their split]. Ricky is dependable, trustworthy and very supportive. Ariana feels she can be herself around Ricky.”

The source also says that Grande loves how “funny” Alvarez is and that “they have a similar, smart, dry sense of humor.” However, the pair are enjoying a slower pace when it comes to rekindling things.

“They’re not jumping into anything serious right away, but Ari is happy to have him back in her life,” the source says.

July 15, 2026 — Ricky attends Ariana’s show in Brooklyn, NY with his family and Ariana soft launches Ricky in a photo dump the next day.

July 16, 2026 — Rickiana make their couple debut during a stroll through Central Park.

We’ve heard the story of Jake’s friend crashing her studio session several times. Not only by Taylor but by Max Martin as well, with some additional details.

Max revealed that this took place at Conway Studios during his first ever session with Taylor. The guy, who was originally in the studio next door with Maroon 5, walked over to talk to Taylor about Jake.

After Taylor’s rant, they finished the song they had already started then moved onto WANEGBT the next day.

We now know that first song they finished was Message In A Bottle.

Now let’s talk about when this took place. Some people have speculated that WANEGBT was written around April 14th because of this tweet from Adam Levine. But after some more digging, I think I found a more probable date.

On May 22, 2012, Adam Levine went back to Conway Studios to record an Al Green cover for the deluxe album. And this time, he brought along his friend/roomate, Gene Hong.

And if you google Gene Hong, his wikipedia page literally describes him as Jake Gyllenhaal’s best friend! It is public knowledge that Jake and Adam Levine are also friends that went to school together. However, Jake himself says he and Adam remain close because they share the same best friend, Gene.

July 2022 — Ariana and Dalton have a second wedding to celebrate 3 years of dating.

September 18, 2022 — According to The Sun, Ariana and Dalton are renting a home in Hampstead Heath to prepare for Wicked filming.

November 2022 — Ariana gets her wedding date tattooed on her finger, matching the one on Dalton’s wrist.

November 11, 2022 — Ethan Slater wishes his wife, Lilly Jay a happy anniversary on Instagram. Ariana later likes all of Ethan’s pictures including this one after she follows him.

February 14, 2023 — Dalton calls Ariana his forever valentine on instagram stories and she reposts it with an “I love you.”

February 20, 2023 — According to the petition for divorce, Ariana’s legal team listed this day as date of separation.

March 4, 2023 — Ariana goes to the Soho House with Ethan and Lilly Jay.

March 5, 2023 — Ethan and Ariana are spotted taking a stroll in London. Allegedly they were alone with Ethan’s son.

March 26, 2023 — Ariana and Ethan are sitting real close at Michelle Yeoh's Oscar party.

Ariana isn’t wearing her ring on this night and stops wearing it on her social media posts.

March 29, 2023 — Frankie visits Ariana in London.

April 2023 — Sometime at the beginning of the month, Ariana and Ethan both unfollowed each other on Instagram, and later fans noticed all of Ariana's likes on his posts were gone, but Ethan's likes remained on her posts. Meaning Ethan blocked her. And it seemed Frankie had been blocked as well.

April 7, 2023 — Ariana briefly wears her wedding ring while out in London.

April/May 2023 — Dalton supposedly gets Ariana’s name tattooed on his chest around this time.

May 14, 2023 — Ethan wishes Lilly Jay a happy mother’s day on instagram. Ariana likes it.

May 15, 2023 — Ariana posts an instagram story for her and Dalton’s 2 year wedding anniversary.

Call me crazy but I now believe this post was the bat signal. If they started dating in July 2019, that would make 3 years, 10 months together. Two months shy of 4 years so why is she specifically emphasizing (3.5 together!!!)? Well, if they broke up in January that would make exactly three and a half years together. So while they were legally married for 2 years now, they weren’t officially together anymore.

May 28, 2023 — Ariana deletes all her instagram posts prior to June 2021 and liked a photo that highlighted the relationship problems she was having.

Also during this time, Ariana was pictured wearing Ethan’s Shiz sweater (or a matching one) on the Wicked set.

June 1, 2023 — Lilly Jay wishes Ethan a happy birthday on Facebook.

June 27, 2023 — Ariana is pictured celebrating her birthday with arms around Ethan and Jonathan Bailey. Dalton’s sister posts about this on Facebook when everything comes out in July. It’s becoming more clear that even though they officially separated in February, they were not broken up for good. Ariana describes it as a ‘situationship’ in the Eternal Sunshine track, “don’t wanna break up again” and adds “..you didn’t even try. When you finally did, it was at the wrong time.” Judging from the song and her liked Instagram post the previous month, there were attempts from Dalton to change that felt inauthentic. I now think she stayed a little longer for his sake but her mind had been made up for a while.

July 16, 2023 — Ariana is pictured without her wedding ring at Wimbledon 2023 and it makes headlines. I think this was staged because she hasn’t worn it in months.

July 17, 2023 — TMZ reports that Ariana and Dalton have been separated since January after he flew out to see her.

July 20, 2023 — TMZ also breaks the news that Ariana is now dating Wicked costar, Ethan Slater although he is supposedly still married. In the midst of the drama, Ariana likes some concerning instagram posts.

July 21, 2023 — Sources tell Page Six that Ethan told his wife Lilly Jay that he wanted a divorce just a few days before the news of him and Ariana breaks and she was "completely blinded sided"

July 26, 2023 — Ethan officially files for divorce from Lilly Jay.

July 27, 2023 — Lilly Jay breaks her silence and tells Page Six "Ariana's the story, really. Not a girl's girl. My family is just collateral damage." She says she is now focused on raising their 11 month old son who Ariana had previously met and held.

August 3, 2023 — Page Six reports that Grande and Slater were seen kissing before Ethan had broken things off with his wife, Lilly Jay. "They were sloppy on set," a source says, claiming they were together long before the world found out. "They were seen being all over each other while he was still supposedly happily married to Lilly." The source continues, "They were seen making out at a pub in Hampstead, and they were all over each other at Michelle Yeoh's Oscar party [in March]. The source also claims Grande and Gomez went on "multiple" double dates with Slater and Jay.

This pub rumor is later confirmed nearly two years later by Ariana herself in the Eternal Sunshine deluxe track, “Hampstead”.

September 18, 2023 — Ariana officially files for divorce from Dalton.

September-December 2023 — Ariana and Ethan are staying quiet but not a secret. They are spotted having dinners and going to Disneyworld. Ariana attends several of Ethan’s broadway shows for Spamalot.

January 7, 2024 — Ariana releases new single “Yes, and?” from her upcoming album and features the lyric “Why do you care so much whose dick I ride?”

February 2024 — Ariana lightly addresses the media circus in a Zach Sang interview: “We know this about the tabloids and about the media. We selectively remember that this is what the tabloids do to people, especially women, based on whether or not we like the person. We selectively remember that. We selectively leave space for humanness, for nuance.. We don’t need to go into any specifics, but of course there’s, like, an insatiable frustration..with watching people misunderstand the people you love and you.”

March 8, 2024 — Eternal Sunshine album is released. She begins the album with doubts about her marriage and admits that her eyes are wandering. She covers the toxicity of her and Dalton’s relationship over several tracks. “The Boy is Mine” officially addresses the scandal. Most of the last section of the album is about falling in love with Ethan and how this time it’s forever because she’s never felt this way before.

March 19, 2024 — Daltiana divorce finalized.

March 28, 2025 — Eternal Sunshine deluxe drops with a little more information about both Dalton and Ethan. There’s a song called “Dandelion” that some people felt was a diss to Lilly with the flower reference. The closing track “Hampstead” addresses the last two years of her life, and claims the general public doesn’t know the full story. And you know what, she’s right. I’m well aware that we don’t have all the answers or full context to anything I’ve covered here so don’t take it too seriously. I obviously have my own opinion, but I can say I give her grace in certain circumstances or the benefit of the doubt when I feel it it’s due.

April 28, 2026 — Ariana announces her 8th studio album Petal, dropping July 31st. She describes it as such: “It’s a little feral. It’s definitely from a place I’ve been maybe too shy or polite to tap into before. This kind of just feels like, ‘Fuck it.’”

June 6, 2026 — Ariana kicks off the Eternal Sunshine tour and Ethan is notably absent.

June 8, 2026 — Ahead of her album release, it is reported that Ariana and Ethan amicably split “several months ago” after nearly three years of dating.

September 7, 2018 — Mac Miller sadly passes away from an accidental overdose and Pete himself says he knew it was pretty much over between them at that point. Ariana perfectly encapsulates this in the thank u, next track, “ghostin”

October 8, 2018 — Pete and Ariana are seen together for the last time in her Instagram story.

October 9, 2018 — Pete is seen with his Ariana bunny ears tattoo now covered.

October 14, 2018 — After five months together, it is reported that the engagement has been called off.

November 1, 2018 — Pete does a promo clip for SNL. He proposes to the guest singer in it and she awkwardly says no, he looks at the camera and says "O for 3."

Ariana spent the first few months of the year reconnecting and building a friendship with her ex boyfriends.

May 2019 — Ariana records the song “Boyfriend” with Thank u, next collaborator, Mikey Foster. There isn’t alot of information about these two but it was heavily rumored that they were dating around this time. From what I’ve gathered, it seems highly likely that they had a casual fling or flirtation. They hung out with their friend group all the time but there were a couple of instances that suggested more, like Mikey accompanying Ariana alone to her Vogue photoshoot and Ariana drunkenly singing about sleeping over at his house in a demo. There’s also these comments from Mikey’s ex girlfriend.

July 13, 2019 — Dalton Gomez attends Ariana’s show in Salt Lake City and posts to facebook: "Two cuties and what a cool show! I want to follow you on tour for life ❤️”

This is the earliest interaction I could find between the two of them. I don’t know when they met.

December 22, 2019 — Dalton attends the last show of the Sweetener tour and posts a video with the caption: “went to see my baby”

April 9, 2015 — The song "Moonlight" is written with Victoria Monet about “a night under the blood moon", in Ariana’s words.

Victoria later revealed this song was about Ricky and Ariana’s first kiss and that Ariana was impressed that he waited a long time to kiss her. Um... what? A long time?

Ariana literally called Sean her baby on March 29th.

Like, yeah he waited a long time to kiss her because she.. had a boyfriend. The alternative would be helping her cheat. Is he being called a gentleman for refusing to partake in that? Best case scenario would be, Ariana broke up with Sean as early as March 30th and Ricky waited FIVE whole days to make his move. And that’s a long time in their world.

Another explanation could be, Ariana just meant that Ricky had a crush on her for a long time and patiently and quietly waited to shoot his shot.

April 13, 2015 — Ariana teases Moonlight for the first time. Then gets a moon tattoo the next day.

May 26, 2015 — Ariana teases more lyrics with a Ricky soft launch “I never knew you could hold moonlight in your hands ♡”

June 28, 2015 — Ariana kisses Ricky during a performance, but there's a debate on whether they're dating or it's just the choreography.

July 7, 2015 — TMZ leaks surveillance footage of Ariana licking display donuts, declaring she hates Americans/America, being rude and insulting the food to a service worker’s face.. then kissing Ricky. Yeah it was bad. But also confirmed Rickiana.

They date for a year and three months. Jumping forward..

May 20, 2016 — the Dangerous Woman album is released with songs about Ricky such as Moonlight, Into You, Knew Better/Forever Boy and Sometimes.

2. Into You

The music video portrays Ariana on a red carpet and visibly unhappy in her publicized relationship while sneaking around with someone on her team. In the video it’s her bodyguard but in actuality we know it’s her backup dancer. Fans notice the love interest’s bandana and converse matching Ricky’s style.

3. Knew Better/Forever Boy

This one starts as a breakup song to Big Sean before transitioning into a love song with someone new, Ricky. Just like the Into You music video, Ariana seems to hint at Sean’s possible infidelity as the reason for her seeking comfort in another man.

Despite saying she was the “happiest” with Sean and claiming him as her baby right before the breakup, she is now switching up to say “actually he wasn’t treating me right and I wasn’t feeling him anymore anyway” and goes on to admit in Forever Boy that no one has been able to keep her satisfied longer than six months.. until Ricky, of course!

4. Sometimes

Ariana has gotten away with her behavior for so long that she's now comfortable hinting to being a serial cheater / dater. Ariana is genuinely surprised that she has yet to get bored, fall into the temptation of cheating or leave Ricky for someone else. At least at the time of writing it.

And ironically, Mac Miller re-enters the timeline the very next month in June 2016.

September 6, 2016 — Instagram official!

September 15, 2016 — Ariana posts Knew Better part 2 to her Soundcloud. This remixed version replaces the 'Forever Boy' portion of the song with a verse of Ariana rapping about leaving Ricky for Мас. She calls Mac her soulmate and tells us she has finally got it right this time.

Also, "my new boo lovin me like he USED to"? Sounds like they did have something back then.. during that “first December” maybe?

Their relationship lasts for 1 year and 9 months.

As we all now know, this relationship had a dark side behind the scenes due to Mac’s addiction and I do recognize Ariana’s loyalty for almost two years. I will always give her credit for that. She could only put up with it for so long. The song “everytime” from her 2018 album Sweetener gave us a peak behind the curtain.

May 1, 2014 — Ariana and Jai are caught kissing in the most staged video l've ever seen. like actually. (the hair flip, the giggling and covering her face even though neither of them are barely talking during this whole exchange)

And this doesn't mean it's all fake, they were just ready to go public and likely encouraged to capitalize on the moment. This way, it seems like they were "outed" as a couple and now have no reason to hide anymore. And if the fans see how happy they are together rather than just hear about it, they are more inclined to accept it. If they moved on from the past, why can’t we all?

This is a good time to bring up a real question, and really ponder on it. Are you more likely to go back to someone who cheated on you or someone who tried to ruin your reputation and career by lying to the world that you're the cheater?

my OPINION: Ariana was Jai's celebrity crush. He persistently tweeted her to get her attention and once he got it, he would do anything to keep it even if that meant letting things slide that he shouldn't. He even admitted in his twitlonger that he still loved her even after being “cheated” on. There's a power imbalance here that yall don't want to acknowledge..

But let me clear, I do not think Jai is innocent either. That power imbalance breeds insecurity. The fear of losing his celebrity crush would also invoke some severe trust and jealousy issues. He may have become possessive, controlling, suffocating, etc. and yes maybe even threatened to expose her cheating if she ever left him. I guess the question is, did Ariana give him a reason to become so paranoid?

Anyways moving on, they're in love and everything is still going well until late July.

Ariana spent all of July flying back and forth between business obligations and being with her sick grandfather in Florida. Meanwhile, Jai flew to Mexico around July 20th to film for the upcoming Janoskians movie. Apparently though, he was stuck there longer due to visa issues..

July 13, 2014 — Ariana captioned her selfie with "👩💭👦" the way she always did during this time to show she was thinking of Jai. So I believe they're still together here.

But then I noticed that she stopped liking his instagram pictures entirely after July 17th.

July 22, 2014 — Ariana's grandpa sadly passes away. Jai stays in Mexico until early August.

August 4, 2014 — Ariana posts a letter to twitter hinting that Jai did not come to be with her during this time and they have broken up. Someone did fly to Florida to be with her though.. Big Sean. Ariana’s mom shades Jai as well.

August 7, 2014 —Jai unfollows Ariana on Instagram.

August 11, 2014 — Ariana and Jai unfollow each other on Twitter and E! News reports that she and Big Sean are dating.

August 14, 2014 — Ariana's ex friend/coworker Jennette McCurdy posts a mini web series that features a character inspired by Ariana. A vegan, self-absorbed, obnoxious singer named "Gloriana". Jennette and Perez Hilton tweet about it and she backs up Jai's statements. The last time we saw them hang out was Halloween 2013 so Jennette may have witnessed some of the infidelity.

August 16, 2014 — Jai makes a statement about the break up on Facebook. They never interact again.

August 18, 2014 — Ariana and Sean share an intimate performance of their new collaboration “Best Mistake” at her album release party.

August 24, 2014 — They are seen holding hands backstage at the VMAs, officially going public with their romance.

August 25, 2014 — Ariana’s sophomore album My Everything is released with songs alluding to being unfaithful, mistreating a partner and taking them for granted, and being in an on/off toxic relationship — all likely about Jai.

There’s also a track called “Be My Baby” that she dedicates to Sean on the first night of tour in 2015 while they’re still in a happy relationship. Possibly letting us know he was the inspiration but the song was recorded in February 2014.

And Best Mistake was recorded with Sean in March.

That timeframe lines up with Big Sean's ex fiancé Naya Rivera finding Ariana in Sean's house. This would’ve been shortly before the engagement was called off by Sean in April 2014 supposedly due to Naya's "fits of anger and jealousy". Was Naya’s jealousy over Ariana one of the final straws?

January 11, 2013 — Jai goes back home to Australia.

February 6, 2013 — Ariana posts a picture of Mac Miller in the studio while recording her first single, The Way.

February 10-11, 2013 — Ariana and Mac make out while filming ‘The Way’ music video. Mac said this was an on the spot suggestion from the director. Also kisses his cheek in a behind the scenes polaroid.

February 16-17, 2013 — Jai surprises Ariana on the set of the Popular Song music video.

February 20, 2013 — Ariana posts a picture of her and Jai to tumblr from the Popular Song video shoot with a troubling caption. The next day it's reported that they've broken up, confirmed by Ariana’s rep. We eventually learn this was over Jai’s suspicions of Mac Miller.

February 22, 2013 — Jai also posts a picture of them from the same video shoot with the caption "Love this girl so much"

March 5-18, 2013 — Ariana randomly starts liking ex Jordan Viscomi’s instagram posts until she gets back together with Jai, then never interacts with him again.

March 13, 2013 — Ariana starts reblogging pictures of Jai on tumblr again.

March 16, 2013 — Jai posts a photo of himself and Ariana to instagram, confirming they are back together.

They continue to date long distance for the next 5 months with Jai making frequent trips to Ariana in LA.

May 28, 2013 — Ariana performs The Way with Mac on The Ellen Show and shows off her flowers from him.

July 16, 2013 — Jai joins Ariana for a radio interview and gets asked how he felt about Ariana’s kiss scene with Mac because "Mac said ‘I heard her boyfriend was pretty mad about it’."

Jai denies any negative feelings about the kiss but Ariana is very quiet during this because she has publicly said the opposite in another interview x

August 4, 2013 — Ariana and Nathan Sykes meet for the first time while filming the "Almost Is Never Enough" music video and get close on set.

August 6, 2013 — Ariana and Jai make separate posts for their 10 month anniversary, seeming happier and stronger than ever.

August 10, 2013 — Ariana invites Nathan to sing their duet live for the first time.

August 13, 2013 — Ariana receives mystery flowers for the opening night of tour and Nathan starts following Ariana's mom on twitter.

August 15, 2013 — Ariana cries on stage while singing "Honeymoon Avenue" and she later reveals in an interview that Jai broke up with her over text right before she went on stage. Here's all I could find in tweets on the 15th-17th. Jai also unfollows Nathan on twitter.

August 24/29, 2013 — Ariana and Nathan continue performing their song live at different events

September 8, 2013 — Ariana tells a fan she and Jai are back together. A couple nights later, Jai and his brother attend Ariana's show in LA and he tweets about her.

September 23, 2013 — Ariana and Nathan are seen holding hands at Disneyland.

September 24, 2013 — They announce on twitter they are dating and that night, these staged kissing pictures come out.

So.. if they were "hesitant" to go public, how long were they dating beforehand?

Because literally 16 days ago, she and Jai got back together.

Jai's brother Luke takes the first shot on twitter then exposes what really happened to a fan in DMs. This gets back to Ariana and she responds.

Ariana's brother Frankie jumps in and finally, Jai responds to Frankie.

Side note: September 30th, Ariana films the "Right There" music video with... Big Sean.

October 7, 2013 — Jai finally breaks his silence on the breakup and posts a twitlonger with accusations that Ariana cheated on him with Nathan, he took her back, and she then left him for Nathan anyway. Which is exactly what Luke said.

The next day, Ariana responds by saying Jai threatened to make her look bad if she left him, which would be blackmail and toxic if true..but does that necessarily mean what he's exposing is not the truth? Is it possible that Jai could get past the cheating only if he got to keep the girl?

She ends it with "I'm FINALLY happy"

Jai responds to her claims saying "I hope you can sleep at night".. and shares a screenshot of their non-threatening last interaction from two days before she and Nathan went public and he was left on read.

October 8, 2013 — Ariana's ex, Jordan is asked about the situation and gives his response.

So that now makes TWO guys who were villianized by Ariana and her friends/family/fans only for them to be like "she literally cheated tho."

What I would say to both Jai and Jordan is "you lose them how you got them"..

October 11, 2013 — Ariana talks about her and Nathan's love story in an interview. There was a spark at first sight in March but nothing happened. She says they started getting close after filming the music video but then backtracks and says it was actually later that month (five days before her and Jai's breakup)

The next 3 months are full of Nathan and Ariana PDA but I'm skipping to December. On the 15th/16th they seem happy, on the 20th Nathan shuts down breakup rumors. On the 27th, Ariana & Jai refollow eachother on twitter..

And Nariana goes silent until their breakup is confirmed in January…
