how do you make ur horns 👀 they look really good!!!
ok so im working on a full horn tutorial I PROMISE I AM because its way more complicated than it needs to be but the results fckin rule. keep in mind that im still experimebting w this process so. heres the jist:
1. make your base horn out of model magic. its okay if it cracks or breaks because u will be patching it up anyway. its a lightweight clay and easy to sculpt. make sure theyre fully dry: this can take up to a month if theyre thick. its important that theyre dry!!
2. after they dry, mix up clear elmers glue;plaster of paris 50;50. it should be pretty thick and goopy. slop this mix onto the horns. its okay if its messy as long as there is a thick enough layer to sand it down to the shape. before i do this step, i hotglue a bobbypin with cardstock between it onto the base, this doesnt have to be perfect its just to help keep the horn steady bcs ill stick it on the edge of a cardboard box to do this step. ull be replacing this bobbypin later
3. sand it down when fully dry, high grit then low grit. if there are any holes or dips, patch it up with an elmers clear glue;plaster of paris 70;30 mix. the ratios dont have to be perfect, i honestly just estimate. ull wanna do less plaster;more glue the more layers u have. keep sanding it down until its smooth and the shape u want
4. coat in a thin layer of modge podge;plaster 90;10, try to not get any lumps. but if u do. thats ok, just sand it down. this step helps seal it, but if anything is wet or damp underneath, it will stay damp, so MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS FULLY DRY!!
5. paint with acrylic paints. u dont need anything expensive. yellow acrylic is thin so add multiple layers. i always add some blue to mute the colors but like. do ur own thing lol the paintjob can be anything!
6. when dry, seal with a glossy spray sealer. remove the old bobbypin, and replace it w a fresh one, making sure to angle it so that ur horns work with gravity (open end of bobbypin should point downwards so it can hook onto wig wefts!) . ofc u can always hotglue these to a headband if thats what u prefer but make sure its a cloth headband bcs hot glue doesnt stick to smooth plastic
good luck! lmk if u have any questions
