My boyfriend is eight years older than I am. We have been dating for a year now and I really don’t have any issues giving him the accorded respect. But I have been feeling of being exploited and disrespected lately. It is really affecting my self confidence because I think he disrespects me but I love him. When we first started dating, he told me to call him ‘brother’, and which I didn’t even have a second thought about since he is 8 years older than I am. I just felt I could respect him with that too. As we continued with our relationship, I noticed that every other day, my boyfriend always has one thing to add to his list of respect. He acts like he is my father; too controlling and bossy. Away from pictures and the slum project. Here is another INTERESTING relationship topic on the blog. My shortest relationship was 21 DAYS – I have two though and ironically, both were the same number of days: ( Don’t yab me oh) The First: We went to the same Basic school back in the days. We never really got into each other until I got into the University and she too. After I lost my room mate, I was lonely, weak and vulnerable. Then she came into the picture and provided the necessary support. We would text extensively, talk on the phone like ‘Recharge’ was free, even do midnight calls. The attraction was out of this world. We would also go on dates to unusual places. I would go check her up in her parent’s house, she would come check up on me in school. We made out, had phone ‘sex’ (winks), infact nearly had sex, you know? that was how passionate we were. One week after the ‘mushy mushy’, she dropped that L word! I was kind of expecting it anyway, but just did not want to be the one to bell the cat! I guess saying the L word was our major undoing, because we started picking faults in each other. The passion reduced a bit, I started skipping meeting with her, she started going livid! I realized that saying I love you to a woman means she expects commitment from you and this could really be stifling. To her ‘I love you’ was an obligation to be more than passionate! We had a couple of discussions here and there and we realized that we would not work as lovers. I felt very bad then! It was really crazy how I became so attached to her in that short while. We are still best of friends till now though. The Second: When I was in High school, there was this girl I was crushing on. Before I started being the extrovert you all know me as, I was a tad shy back then, and I don’t usually like it when people pick on me. She was beautiful, very sweet and friendly, and there was this ‘swagga’ she had that captivated everyone...... (She is content with a budget wedding) 1⃣5⃣ Family means a lot to her 1⃣6⃣ She doesn't abuse alcohol and or any other substances & she doesn't have more than 1 tattoo 1⃣7⃣ She doesn't have more than 2 phones 1⃣8⃣ She doesn't care about the color of your passport 1⃣9⃣ She is not tribalistic ( Love is love to her ) 2⃣0⃣ She must know how to make at least 10 of these Nigerian dishes ( Ofe nsala, gbegiri, efo riro, edikaikong,banga & starch) 2⃣1⃣ She has not been involved in any social media drama 2⃣2⃣ She should never expose nudes or send nudes on social media , twerking, sex tape) 2⃣3⃣ She should not have more than 10000 followers if she's not a celebrity or stylist, makeup artist. 2⃣5⃣ She should have an Hnd, Bsc or a vocational skill ( makeup, cooking ) *NO LIABILITY* 2⃣6⃣ She won't have sex on the first date 2⃣7⃣ If you're dating she should call your mom at least once a week 2⃣8⃣ She must have "daughter / father" relationship with her dad if her father is still in the picture 2⃣9⃣ She should not have professional makeup done at every outing. Some people are just emotionally blind or let me say “feelings blind”. They can’t detect feelings from people attracted to them. For me though, even before the manifestation in your heart, I know already. LOL But on a serious note, it is quite imperative to know when someone is feeling the extra for you. It is for your own good and the person hitting on you, because you might want to discourage the feelings but unknowingly to you, you were encouraging it even without intending to.
