I FEEL LIKE I SHOULD MAKE IT CLEAR THAT I DON’T REALLY BELIEVE IN THE CONCEPT OF HIGH / LOW ACTIVITY. I THINK IT CONTRIBUTES TO A PRECEDENT THAT REMOVES THE HOBBY-NESS AND FUN FROM WRITING.

I WILL NEVER UP AND ABANDON A BLOG WITHOUT WARNING; SOMETIMES I MOVE MUSES AROUND. SOMETIMES I NEED BREAKS. SOMETIMES I AM VERY BEHIND ELSEWHERE AND IT BECOMES PRIORITY. SOMETIMES I’M JUST NOT WRITING AT ALL.

While it’s always nice to know if someone is going away permanently, temporarily, for unknown time etc… I hate this sense of feeling like you can’t just hop between blogs when you feel like writing on that blog. There is an unspoken pressure about Tumblr writing vs more private places like discord. A public performance aspect, which I think contributes to Tumblr burnout / muse death.

I don’t expect a magic solution to just appear suddenly, nor do I claim to have all the answers — I can only speak for myself.

That being said: I will never intentionally up and abandon a blog on any account ( barring blogs that never launched or any kind of reason where being on that blog might be harmful ); if I have a known reason for inactivity ( eg: hiatus ), I will probably let you guys know SOMEWHERE ( I cannot guarantee every blog to be updated all at once, as the nature of some hiatuses might limit my contact ).

If we have plots and threads, I always care about them… but if I am not feeling that specific muse, I won’t force myself to be on that blog. However, you can still always talk and plot with me… and I might even be up for discord or kik things in the interim.

I don’t think discord or kik or other platforms as lesser; and I consider those connections just as valid as tumblr ones. I often count them into my canon when applicable. Just as I think things we discuss are just as important as things we actually write out.

I am here, but I believe we should be able to just be here when we want to be. Not out of obligation. Just as I believe that people are allowed to lose interest without being vilified. We all have different preferences and if we wanna reconnect later, we always can. It’s fine. Just don’t be a dick about it.

On the flip side, you can always come back to me after x amount of time. It’s all good.

The long and short of it is: all manners of writing and plotting are valid, and let people enjoy their hobbies and pick them up whenever they are up for it. Some muses might be more active at times than others. Some might be feeling one platform over another. And that’s okay. Just be cool, okay?

MINI HIATUS NOTICE

AUGUST 1ST - AUGUST 6TH

I’ll be flying to Connecticut next week to play my role as maid of honour in my best friend, @caresomuch‘s wedding --- which means during this time, I will be offline minus the occasional popping in during downtime / at the airports. I return on the fifth, but I’ll be home late because of travel and the following day, I’m opening at work after a long weekend. So I won’t really be around until later on the sixth. As with on the first, I’ll be sleeping most of the day to combat the fact that I am getting up at two a.m. to get there --- so I won’t be very talkative that day either. I’ll set my queue up as much as possible before then, time is fleeting as we have a lot to do before then --- but I’ll likely be faster on discord, kik and IMS.
