She laughs slightly at that, giving a gentle shake of her head. “Not to mention that they’re way beyond crazy for choosing to come and look after crazy kids. No one here if sane.”

Bianca Warner had a strange upbringing, full of deception but also adoration. She was born into a wealthy family, but the family had a history of so many issues that anything bad in her life had to be secret. Any time she messed up it either got broadcast to the world, or got hidden by her family while she lost her money and privileges. Over time she couldn’t hide her anger as well, especially the anger she harbored for her sister. Her mother preferred her brother, while Bianca got the adoration of her father. Her sister Rae, though, got adoration from the both of them. It just didn’t seem fair.

Over time it became evident that Bianca wasn’t the only one struggling with anger. Rae had similar issues. Only much, much worse. Bianca was fifteen the night Rae’s anger got out of control. Bianca and Damien had gone to see a movie, and returned home to find their parents brutally murdered and Rae standing over their bodies, covered in blood. The older girl had been emotionless, like stone, as she stood there, the knife she’d used already washed and put away again. Rae flipped like a switch once the police arrived, suddenly crying and distressed. She made up some story about a man that came and killed them right in front of her. The police bought it, but Bianca and Damien knew the truth.

Rae left after that, leaving Damien and Bianca alone to try to act like she didn’t exist. They had mourned their parents death and lived alone together in their childhood home for a while, but a year later Rae returned, and Bianca’s struggle to contain her feelings became even harder. Rae was clearly insane, but she’d been a good enough actor to get a job as a high school teacher. Bianca acted up a lot more now that her sister was around, trying to get Rae seen as an unfit caregiver in the hopes that she’d be taken away. Rae never did get taken away, but somehow she did disappear and Bianca decided that was good enough.

Months pass before Bianca finds out about the nerve app. Her parents and sister gone meant that money became tight, and so Bianca got the app and did her part. It started off as a thing she needed, her chance to get the money they’d need to survive, but over time it all became addicting, the rush of completing a dare being far more fulfilling than having money. So she just kept doing dares, letting them get more and more intense. Truth is she doesn’t care much about the money anymore, she just wants to have some fun. Damien begs her to stop, but at this point she’s in too deep. She couldn’t stop, even if she wanted to.
