Shock filled her features at the his words, and she couldn’t understand why he’d say something like that. “No! I’m not leaving you, we’ll get out of this together!” She insisted. No matter how much she fought him on it, she would not allow for him to be left behind. That’s not a fate anyone deserves.

“I’ll be fine! I’ll catch up, I promise!”

“Really, you don’t need to stay with me. I’m fine, and our team needs its leader, right?”

Kano realized how bad the situation was getting. He was concerned about the others getting to safety, but he was certain that wouldn’t be a problem if just one of them stayed behind. And who better to do it than the one who was already injured? With his eye ability, who knew, maybe he’d be able to buy enough time for even him to escape. 

And even that thought, not spoken aloud was a lie, as he knew with the pain of his injury, he wouldn’t be able to use it.

“Please, go on ahead.”

Following her line of sight, Kano spotted the rather plain looking box. The holes in it and signs of movement nearly gave it away, but she wouldn’t have, would she?

Upon opening the box, his question was answered--yes, she would. It was a small kitten, letting out a little ‘mew’ as he picked it up.
