Here are the numbers: if you stay up cramming Friday night, you’re not gonna be all there. Say it’s not too bad. Say you have those moments where you spend ten seconds staring at a problem before it clicks that you’re testing and you need to read the darned problem. that only happens once every five minutes, you’ll have spent seven minutes staring at dead wood and fake symbols doing absolutely nothing. At regionals.

(10 sec/5 min)(30 min) = 1 minute per test = seven minutes lost

That’s a whole interview. That’s a prepared speech, impromptu preparation, and the impromptu. That’s losing your purity trying to find heaven in your dad’s closet cause the bottle landed on you. 

That’s a lot of time.

Program your damn calculators.

Honestly it halves the stress of the test and can basically give you some freebie questions since you won’t have to memorize the formulas. And, yes, by Decathalon guidelines, it is perfectly legal to program your calculators unlike some people and their TI-Nspires.

While, between the two mods, I am the more experienced in running a blog and in tumblr, I still have a lot to learn in the ways of decathlon as this is only my first year.

I am female and perhaps the more abrasive of this blog but please don’t be afraid to approach me either. I promise I won’t bite without reason.

However, here’s hoping for a smashing year. For all of us.

Hello again!! My name is October and this’ll be my formal introduction into the world of decaths and tumblr in general (for I have never run a blog before, so apologies in advance).

I’m a nationally ranked decathlete (fifth in my division at E-Nationals last year), third-year on my team, and this year’s team-designated ‘Mother’. It’s a title I hold with only the most love I can muster for my team and you know I’ll fight for ‘em if it comes down to it.

Formalities aside, I’m a male (biologically and in spirit, whatever that means) whose heart belongs equally to my team and parentheticals (if you couldn’t tell). I’m a proud member of the Honors division and the more experienced of your two wonderful mods (in the ways of decath, not tumblr) and I’m looking forward to the next couple years on our amazing team and our (soon to be) amazing blog!!
