I wanted to take a minute to write about what’s happening in Venezuela right now. On June 24, the country experienced two powerful earthquakes, measuring between 7.2 and 7.9 in magnitude. Many places were affected, but the areas with the most destruction were La Guaira and Caracas, the capital. At leafs 1,400 people have died, around 5,000 have been injured, and thousands are still missing. Many of them remain trapped under the debris. Venezuela was not prepared for this. They don’t have enough ambulances or medications for those affected. Most people received the earthquake alert only five seconds before it hit, leaving them with almost no time to evacuate the buildings. If you’d like to donate, here’s the link. Seriously, every penny helps. My deepest condolences go out to the families and everyone affected by this tragedy.
It hurts me deeply to see everything my country and people have been through over the past decades. Watching this unfold without being there to help my people is truly heartbreaking.
