angela is a genius. a prodigy. someone worthy of having the ground they walk on kissed. gabriel believed it all. 

gabe relaxed into his seat once. he listened to ana, or maybe fareeha, one of the AMARIS  (  he knows which, he’d just rather forget  ) go on about the technology. he wasn’t as savvy as the rest, maybe. run & gun, sew and drink. make the calls someone younger than him couldn’t. they may as well have been the abc’s of him. he didn’t care what she came up with, just so long as she was alive at the end of the day.

where was she?? he asks this later, not in the moment: gabe is caught up in his rage. JACK, of all people. his friend jack. a scoff rises at the name. what made him BETTER?? they went through the same shit, gabriel went through it longer. he should have been picked, not that bright-eyed, blond son of a gun. everything in him hopes she’ll side with him this time, but she doesn’t. ana chooses him. there are the few that appreciate seniority that side with him. they’re no one important. he’s too mad to concede that he’s losing everything.

being a genius does not provide safety. it doesn’t save a woman from having to listen to booming voices and slamming doors. 

   ‘ really, now ? ‘ eyebrows raise to her hair line – a ghost of a laugh dying on her lips, she couldn’t laugh this off. maybe reverse time –  only a short term solution. ‘ i can completely sense the joy in your voice behind all that sarcasm. you know, i’d never think i’d see the day were you were bein’ nice !! y’sure this aint your doppleganger or somethin’? your vaguely nicer twin ??’

❝ ——  You don’t think… that we are going to be here forever, do you? ❞ Satya asked to no one in particular, unsure. She didn’t feel like herself at the moment, TOO MUCH to take in. She was usually self-collected, reasonable and objective, but the recent events was enough to confuse the woman’s head. So much that she was now being vunerable in front of someone else.  ❝ There MUST be a purpose for all of it. And I presume it is not a good one. ❞

   ‘ you look so thankful for it – crushing the lotus in your hands.’         sinister lips pull into that of a smirk,    the assassin didn’t do niceties.   yet she had    heard    that   someone   was far too similar to her style for comfort. death ? spinning? black ? flowers ?    pretty much her entire shtick.    being an assassin wasn’t fun if there’s someone else people fear more.   NOT that katarina   cared   about other people’s opinions – apart from where she did. ‘ i could have poisoned that you know, my sister’s a snake. i’m quite knowledgeable. ’  false threats – cassio wasn’t here and she spent more time trying not to be choked in her home every time she accuses her little sister of stealing her clothes.

      “ well, you got me there. surprised you know what a blue screen is. ” they DID have computers back in the day, sombra. “ i don’t know – the ocean kinda scares me. ”

          as quick as her grin rose, it fell at the non-committal syllable of an answer. was she really expecting anything different from the older man ?? —— non, but two can play at that game.   ‘   SURE.   ’   the drawl of the word only accentuated the french accent that left her mouth.   ‘   — they are fine. spacious, for a single person. luxurious, in some regards. unnecessary, in my overall opinion. useful as a current base of operations, since it seems my break is over.   ’
