adult with a part-time job and outside hobbies. I volunteer in my community and do not have the time nor energy to argue with people online for hours on end.

I've been in discourse spaces for most of my online years (so, at least since I was 11). I will not engage deeply because I know how badly it can damage my health. You are free to message me about my opinions, however I will not debate you for longer than I feel safe doing.

I will not outright say my stances on things, but you can ask me them. I have found in my time online that saying stances of any kind only serves to invite hate from people who disagree with me.

sometimes its okay to go offline, sometimes you need to... I understand being angry at things, trust me, but a lot of you seem to be using discourse (and bad news, quite honestly) as a form of self harm. There are significantly better things for you to do with your time than posting about the things you hate (hypocritical of me to say, I know). If you ever find yourself getting worked up over things online, please take a second and ask yourself if its worth it to argue about it with someone or if you can do something more proactive elsewhere. Ask yourself if you can actually change their opinion or if this will just push them further into that community. Remember that not engaging in an argument does not mean you do not care, or that you've given up on this perceived fight.

This post is not trying to demean anyone, and my tone is meant to be read as neutral. I have simply seen far to many people cause themselves harm by involving themselves in certain online communities.
