the best show I’ve ever been to, hands down — energy was INSANE and INFECTIOUS. Dancing was INEVITABLE.

lil story time — while drying up after showering with my last partner, my recently added playlist was playing. This song came on and his words: what is this shit? It’s weird. I never skipped a track so fast.

Since the first time I heard it, I loved it. It’s the track that got me into Nina early last year.

One of the things I genuinely enjoyed doing was sharing my music with him but I was very selective for a couple of reasons. One, I mostly showed him songs I thought he’d like. Two, my music taste is a bit different from his so I feared feeling judged for what I liked for some odd reason (which is crazy thinking back on it). Three, I’m guilty of gatekeeping because I don’t like tying my “feel good” songs to bad memories given our past — weird I know. There’s actually a handful of songs that I don’t like hearing because they take me back to a time I don’t wish to remember. Sounds kinda messed up and crazy lol but I take music sharing to heart. It’s like sharing a piece of me — that’s how much music means to me.

To hear such a crazy comment before I even had the chance to ramble about how cool her sound is, was gutting. I never played any of her music around him ever again. For a while I couldn’t even listen to this song because it had that memory tied to it. This probably seems so silly and he might not even remember this moment at all but I remember how I felt and it sucked.

Seriously can’t get enough of this album.
