People can be such assholes. Where did the manners go? Where did humanity go? I watched the news yesterday and the wrong people are getting put into jail, and the wrong people are getting let out. Two men who jumped off the Freedom Building are being charged for trespassing and burglary when all they did was jump from the building for their own adventure. The next story? A 36 year old male shoots a 22 year old after leaving a bar at closing time. He’s shot someone before and he was supposed to have gone to trail for that just days before. So why is he still able to carry a gun? And why does he have it on him while he’s drinking? UT El Paso is hosting a man that has bluntly spoken out against the LGBT community. Why would they bring him to campus? How is it ok to host a person with those beliefs? Host someone with an open mind and someone who is standing up for this world. Not someone who is trying to take us back in time with hatred in his heart. Everyday it’s something new and everyday I’m wondering, “what can we do to make a change? What can I do to make a change?” My professor showed me this lovely website: therepresentationproject.org Dealing with the stereotypes of men and women and forcing us to look at those and make a change. Women don’t get enough credit and aren’t treated equally and men are told they must be tough and not be associated with anything “girly”. Our society has so much work to do still. How is it 2014 and we still have all these problems-problems that just being a good human could solve?
