Dong, who was born in San Francisco’s Chinatown in 1949, now lives in Oahu and teaches art and art history at Kamehameha Secondary Schools Kapālama Campus’ Visual Arts Department in Hawaii. Several of his murals can still be seen in Chinatown, including the notable mural overlooking Chinese Playground (now Willie “Woo Woo” Wong Playground) which was painted in 1986.
