After that, Dean just left. Sam tried to calm you down like the best friend and brother figure he is but you brushed it off, saying that everything was alright, that you were alright. You brushed it off like you always do, the boys didn’t need to know about your anxiety, they already had enough to deal with.

The ride back to the Bunker was the same, not a word was said and the music was tuned down to a faint background sound you could hardly make out.

This didn’t help your anxiety at all, it was growing more with each second, suffocating you. The boys didn’t need you. You haven’t been hunting for a long time, most of your childhood was spent normal, unlike one of the brothers.

Your parents and brother died when a vampire went rough and needed more blood to drink. You would’ve been dead as well if it wasn’t for Dean and Sam killing the vampire before he could hurt you.

It was only then that you found it about the Supernatural, it wasn’t that long ago, today marks the fifth death anniversary of your parents and little brother and the day you found about the Supernatural.

You didn’t stay with the boys at first, hoping that it was just this one time and that I’d never happened again. But it did, only a few weeks later. This time you escaped, running as far away as possible. You started with research and teaching yourself how to hunt the monsters living in the shadows.

During a failed hunt you meet the Winchesters again, which was roughly two years ago. They invited you to join and live with them. It didn’t take long for you to get close with the brothers, the older brother to be specific.

At first, Dean was like the older brother you never had and your best friend at the same time. After he almost lost you on a hunt he confessed his underlying feelings to you. You’ve been growing strong ever since.

As soon as you were parked in the garage, Dean was out without a word, leaving everything behind. Both of his bags were still stored in Baby’s truck, his leather jacket carelessly thrown over the bench seat. His phone’s laying in the spot he occupied during the car ride.

You needed to move, staying in Baby wasn’t an option. You’ve been hungry for a few hours, too afraid of what would happen if you asked Dean to stop and buy a sandwich. The last time you had a proper meal was shortly before the hunt. You grasped Dean's phone from the front seat and slowly made your way to the door.

You tried not to make too many sounds. You planned to quickly drop by Dean's room to give him his phone and then get something to eat. You’d probably crash in one of the guest rooms or the Dean cave. Dean made it clear in the past hours that he doesn’t want you near him. You still had a bit of hope left that Dean would be in the shower already like he normally is after every hunt.

That way you wouldn’t have to worry about facing him. You just hope that this wouldn’t be the end of your relationship. Still, your anxiety is getting the best of you and constantly telling you that it doesn’t matter. That he’ll break up with you one way or the other even if he isn’t in his room at the moment.

You carefully pushed the door open, to your surprise and relief, Dean wasn’t in his room at the moment. You quickly walked inside, snatching your pajamas from one side of the bed and laying his phone on his nightstand. You also took your charger and the journal you had stored in the nightstand, fishing out the pen.

You turned around, not looking where you were going, still thinking that Dean was in the shower. That was your mistake number one. You walked right into a solid chest, dripping with small water drops.

You looked up in surprise, your eyes wide open and fearful, not wanting him to scream at you once again or even worse, to kick you out forever. Mistake number two.

His hair was still wet from the shower, his forest green eyes staring at you like they normally do, all the hate and disappointment from before gone. You saw that he wanted to talk, saw it in his eyes and the way he held his body. But you didn’t allow him to say a word.

You quickly ran past Dean, out of his room and down the hallway of the Bunker, looking yourself in the nearest guest room you came across. In this case, you were lucky, it wasn’t just a guest room but it was also the room you stayed in before you moved into Dean's bedroom a couple of months ago.

A few of your clothes were still lying around, clothes that you didn’t need anymore and that were now laying around without being used. The desk was still littered with a few notes you once took on a hunt, an old book laying on top of it. You haven’t been in the room in ages.

The bed wasn’t made, definitely not the most comfortable but there was a pillow and blanket for you to sleep with. You put the journal and pen down on the nightstand, turning on the lamp near the bed.

You changed your clothes, tired of the tight jeans you’ve been wearing all day and the flannel shirt.

There was a faint knock on the door, Dean's voice asking if he could come in. You spun around quickly, your eyes going wide with fear. You didn’t want him in your room. You didn’t want to face Dean again, you were too scared for that. You only relaxed a bit when you remember that you locked the door upon entering the room before.

Dean was already gone when you climbed into bed. It normally wasn’t like him to give up this easily but he was probably exhausted as well. He hasn’t tried to reach you over the phone yet but Sam texted you, wishing you a good night.

Your stomach started to grumble again, your plan to get food was cut short and forgotten after you ran into Dean. It was too comfortable in the bed to move now and walk to the kitchen, food could wait till tomorrow.

The next morning was one of the few mornings you woke up without Dean by your side after he admitted his feelings for you. It felt strange. It felt unusual. You don’t feel safe.

You headed some shuffling in the hallway, footsteps that passed your door and went into the direction of Sammy’s room. It was just Sam, way too early for Dean to be up.

You decided to take this to your advantage and avoid Dean the whole day. Again. Was that childish behavior? Maybe. But you didn’t care about that.

You slowly made your way to the kitchen, your bare feet cold on the floor of the bunker but silent when you passed Dean's room. His door was still shut, giving you, even more, hope that he’s still asleep.

You made your way towards the kitchen, no noises besides the running generator from the bunker could be heard. It was silent.

When you reached the kitchen, you could fairly make out some dirty plates in the sink, probably from the boys. Or were they there when you left for the hunt?

You opened the refrigerator door, hoping that you could find some food in there.

“Last shelf from the bottom, we saved you some.”

Dean.

When did he come into the kitchen? Was he going to scream at you again?

You slowly turned around, head hanging low, not daring to meet Dean’s eyes. You heard Dean shuffle shortly after, his sock-clad feet coming into your sight a second after.

He moved two of his fingers under your chin, slowly pushing up your head, forcing you to look him in the eyes. Hurt, shame, and fear? He was worried, very worried and his eyes showed just how much.

“Sweetheart?” He questioned, his eyes staring into yours, almost afraid that you’ll look away and run again. Just like you did before.

“Can we talk?” His voice was quoted, filled with regret and hurt. He didn’t want to scream at you, not now at least. Was he going to break up with you? Was he going to kick you out for good this time? You didn’t know, you didn’t want to know.

“I’ll just talk, I guess.” Dean was hesitant, trying not to make you run again.

“Listen,” he started. His eyes no longer focused on you but the wall behind you, it almost felt like he was ashamed of something. “I shouldn’t have said what I did after the hunt. It wasn’t right of me to do that, to scream at you like that.”

One of his hands reached down and took your smaller one into his, squeezing it tightly.

“I was an idiot. The reason I scream at you was that I was scared, scared of something like that happening to you as well. I couldn’t imagine what my life would be without you in it, sweetheart.”

You could see in Dean's eyes that he was ashamed about what happened. He’d probably do anything to change what happened between you two in the motel room. You were hurt by his words, no doubt but hearing him say that he did it because he was scared, scared that he’d lose you put a different perspective in the whole story.

“Please, y/n, tell me I didn’t fuck this up. Tell me that I didn’t ruin this because of that stupid fight. Please,” Dena begged.

He was sincere, that was for sure. You’ve never seen him like this, normally he was this badass and brave hunter, now he just looks like a scared kid that got his candy taken away.

“Can I at least try to make it up to you?” Dean asked slowly and quit. You forgot that he was still standing in front of you, lost in your thoughts.

You nodded your head after a short moment, a simple gesture but it was enough to bring a smile to Dean's face. “Thank you, babe.” Dean pulled you into his chest, giving you one of his infamous hugs.

You haven’t shared a bet yet since that night as you liked to call it. You’ve always made it out alive and only minimally injured, driving back to the Bunker, driving home directly after. However, you knew that one day you’d have to share again, either when you stopped in at a motel after an exhausting hunt or after one of Deans’ nightmares.

In all the scenarios in your head, you didn’t think that this would’ve been the reason that you’d sleep next to Dean again. It wasn’t a failed hunt per day, no one was injured or killed but it was exhausting, long, and tiring. Normally it didn’t matter how far you were away or how long the hunt was, the need to go back to the Bunker was stronger. Only if someone was injured, you stayed in the motel room, to rest and to take care of the injury.

You were far away from the Bunker, Miami wasn’t exactly close or a quick drive away. It was already past midnight when you brought the victim home, thankfully the teenage girl only had some bruises and very small cuts she could easily cover-up and that would heal in the next few days.

It was a mutual decision to stop by a close motel and just crash there for the night. Dean promised you to get a room with two beds when he made his way over to the reception. You already had the bags out of Baby’s truck when Dean returned, a faint smile on his face, holding up one key with a room number.

“This time they had a room with two beds. Not like the one back in north Texas,” Dean said, taking both backs out of your hands and leading the way.

“You do know that I can carry my back, I’m not a useless child,” you replied, not wanting Dean to carry everything after he was just as tired as you are. You were sure that his muscles must be hurting as much as yours do.

“Man, I would kill for a good shoulder massage now,” you said while Dean was trying to open the motel room door. “Let me help.”

It took you one single try to open the door, the motel room was just like every other, the wallpaper and furniture in a simple style but it was clean, the windows had a view of the small park behind the motel.

“Message?” asked Dean, his face showing confusing, “did you hurt yourself during the hunt?”

“No, my shoulder muscles are just hurting a bit, hopefully, a warm shower and some rest will help,” you replied.

“How about you take that shower, I’ll get some greasy takeaway for dinner, and then I’ll try to ease the pain in your shoulders?” Dean suggested.

“Only if I can try to get you a message as well,” you said. Dean just chuckled and nodded his head before he went back to Baby.

You took your time to shower, the warm water already helping you to relax and calm down a bit. Only now you feel how tired you are, your body needs to catch up with all the sleep you’ve missed the last few days.

When you went out of the bathroom, only dressed in your panties and an old shirt of Dean or Sam, you couldn’t quite remember whom you got the shirt from and it didn’t matter, not to you at least. You wore them to sleep most of the time or on lazy days, the shirts swimming on you and hiding your body in the comfy and warm material.

Dean already sat at the small table near the door and unpacked back from McDonald's in front of him and two opened beers as well. You took a seat opposite him, taking out some burgers from the bag. We ate quietly, none of us talking a word.

“I’m beat,” Dean said, “I’ll take a quick shower and get ready, it’s time to hit the sack and get some hours of sleep.” I couldn’t agree more with that, my body growing mirrored with each passing second.

You still couldn’t understand how Dean, and Sam, can take shower this quick, it feels like they're only in them for a minute. It’s probably because they are men and don’t have to worry about washing long hair.

When Dean came out of the bathroom, you were already snuggled into one of the beds, not bothering with brushing your teeth for once.

“Starting without me?” teased Dean, smiling shortly before standing in front of you and crunching down.

“Good night sweetheart,” said Dean, “have a good night's sleep, and don’t be afraid to sleep in tomorrow. We have the whole day to travel back to Sammy.”

This was the exact moment that reminded you of the last time you and Dean crashed in a hotel room. His late-night confession replaying over and over in your head. You heard the distant shuffle of the other bed before the lamp got shut off and Dean saying good night one last time.

It didn’t take you long to fall asleep, Dean's confession may have replayed in your head but your body’s need to catch up with sleep was stronger. It wasn’t that much later when you felt two strong arms moving around you and pushing you back into a chest.

Dean.

“What’s wrong?” you mumbled, clearly still tired and not fully awake.

“Just had a nightmare,” Dean said and continued shortly after, “it’s okay though, just needed to hug you. Go back to sleep.”

But you couldn’t.

This was like last time, Dean laying behind you and holding you tight to his chest, you were already half asleep but awake enough to know what was going on around you.

Only a short time later, you felt Dean pressing his lips softly against your neck again. Just like that last time! Before he could speak, however, you decided to turn around and hid your face in his chest.

You couldn’t see his face in this position but you just knew that he was smiling, he had to. Dean began to softly hum a song, you couldn’t quite figure out which one it is but it sounded familiar so you probably heard it in one of the rides in Baby before.

This time, however, Dean didn’t say another word but pressed his lips softly against your head, holding you even tighter. Dean loved to cuddle you after he had a nightmare, something about the safety of holding you in his arms and knowing that you’re doing alright.

Somehow you knew that this was the perfect moment to show Dean that you felt the same, definitely having a confidence boost since you knew he felt the same. But how? Do you tell him? Or do you show him?

Showing was easier.

Before he could fall asleep, you turned your head upwards, catching his eyes for a very short moment before you pressed your lips to his. You didn’t know if Dean would kiss you back, after all, he was tired and not prepared for this attack at the moment. But he did. lol

And it felt amazing. The way his lips moved in perfect synchronization with yours. You could still faintly taste the beer he drank early and the taste of peppermint from his toothpaste. You pulled away when the need for air became too much for you, a smile on your lips.

“Fuck sweetheart,” said Dean, his eyes watching you closely. He was smiling, just like you, clearly happy about the kiss.

“I don’t ever want to stop doing that with you,” he confessed.

“Me neither Dean, me neither,” you said before letting out a big yawn.

Dean quickly pressed another kiss against your lips before turning you around in his arms, your back pressed against his chest. He kissed your neck once again, lingering a bit longer than he did before.

“Let’s sleep now,” he mumbled, clearly tired again.

“We can talk about this in the morning.”

You couldn’t agree more. It didn’t take long for you or Dean to fall asleep this time. You were safe in Dean's arms, in the arms of your love.

“That’s okay, let’s just go to sleep and forget about today,” you replied, trying to take one of the bags you’ve stored in the truck of Baby for emergency overnight stays like now.

“Let me take this, sweetheart,” Dean said before grabbing the duffel bag and closing the truck of his beloved car again, “you’re still hurt.”

Normally you would’ve argued with the older Winchester brother, you weren’t the only one who’s injured, at least not this time.

Dean had his fair share of bruises and bumps from this hunt, one of the ghosts thought it'd be a good idea to throw the hunter around, he clearly didn’t know that this would just anger him even more.

It wasn’t that much of a surprise to you nor Dean when you opened the motel room to only see one bed. It wouldn’t be the first time you’re forced to share a bed with Dean.

You slowly opened up the buttons of your plaid shirt, being careful when you came close to the area of the deeper cut. You could faintly make out a patch of dried blood on the navy-colored shirt you had underneath.

Trying to peel off the shirt was more painful than you thought I’d be, your muscles hurting and screaming in pain to stop moving, the area around the cut was sticky with blood and clinging painfully to the shirt.

Dean turned around when he heard your grunts of pain, his eyes immediately falling just above your hip where the cut was.

“Do you need help? The cut doesn’t look that good,” he said, “I think it will be better if I help you.”

You just nodded, not trusting your voice at this moment. Dean slowly began to move the shirt over your head, carefully not to hurt you in any way.

He carefully puts his hands on your waist, avoiding all the bruises and the cut.

“Do you want me to help to bandage you up? You can take the shower after that,” Dean said, already moving away to get the small first aid kit.

He carefully cleaned the cut, stopping when you quietly hissed at the sharp pain. His movements are light, trying to avoid any spots that might hurt you even more.

“There you go.”

“Go take a shower,” you said to Dean, “you’re dirtier than I am and I can wait a few minutes,” you said, knowing that if you’ll take the shower first Dean would need to wait a bit longer this time.

“I promise you, I won’t die till then,” you said, trying to joke around a bit.

“Thank you for patching me up, De.”

“No problem, sweetheart,” he said softly, “I promise I won’t take too long in the shower or use all the hot water.”

Dean kept his promise, he didn’t take long to shower and get ready for the night.

“The shower’s all yours, y/n,” Dean said when he left the bathroom.

You went into the bathroom, taking your time to let the last bits of warm water wash over your dirty skin and to clean the smaller cuts. When you came out, changed into a way to big shirt and some shorts, you spotted Dean sitting in the bed, leaning against the headboard and mixing some cards.

“You know what day today is?” Deans asked, watching you moving around in the small motel room. “It’s Friday, that means game night unless you’re too tired for it,” Dean said.

“Sure, why not,” you replied, your voice sounding tired from the long and exhausting day. “Not sure how long I’ll be able to stay awake.”

Dean smiled softly at you, not expecting you to stay up way too late, after all, it was already after 10 pm and both of you were tired as hell.

The game night, however, has been a tradition between you and Dean since you joined them permanently a few months ago and moved into the bunker. Normally it’s just you and Dean who’s playing, it doesn’t matter if it’s in a motel room like now or the safety of one of your rooms in the bunker. On occasion, Sam would join the both of you for some rounds of cards or a round of The Game of Life.

“Where did you get the cards from?” You asked, not recognizing the cover, it wasn’t one from the bunker.

“It was in the nightstand, you remember the game we played in Arizona a few months ago? The one we brought in the store since we forgot to pack one?” He asked you, “it’s the same one, just an older version by the looks of it.” The color of the cards he showed you already faint, to just make it even harder to see the difference between blue and green.

“Alright,” you said, clapping with your hands, “lets the games begin!” You chuckled.

You and Dean played a few rounds, joking around while playing, trying to forget about the past few hours.

“Let’s go to sleep,” you said, yawning shortly after.

It didn’t take long to pack the few cards away, storing the old game of UNO back into the nightstand.

“You okay with me cuddling you,” asked Dean. It wasn’t unusual for the two of you to cuddle together, either when you shared motel beds or while sharing the couch during a movie in the Dean cave.

He probably asked because of your hip, not wanting to hurt you even more.

“Yes Dean, you can cuddle me. In fact, I wouldn’t mind a good cuddle session with my best friend to round up this wonderful evening after this terrible day,” you replied, already laying down on one side of the bed.

His arms moving around you, avoid the part of your hip where the cut and bandage is. His huge and warm hand resting comfortably on your stomach, his thump drawing small circles. His warm breaths fanning over the back of your neck.

“Good night Dean,” you said, voice already tired. “Good night sweetheart.”

It’s been a few minutes since you said good night to Dean, you were close to falling asleep when you felt him move behind you. He pulled you close to his body, his head resting in the crook of your neck when you felt his lips placed a soft kiss on your neck.

“You can never know this sweetheart, but I love you. I love you so damn much. But I know, I know that you won’t feel the same and that I’ll ruin this, ruin our friendship if I say a thing about it or let it show. Did you know that I love moments like these? When we cuddle together and you’re asleep. I can talk as much as I want, not worrying about you hearing me.”
