Nick picked himself up off of the floor, brushing the dust off of his clothes and examining the small tear in his trousers' knees (shit, how was he going to get the money to buy a new pair so quickly?). Luckily, his notebook was still intact, though a few pages were dirtied, and he put it back in his pocket; he could probably tear those pages out later.
