But a mess is a mess. You start to clean, taking great care to pick up a medium-sized piece of ceramic. Each piece looks like it'd fit neatly in your palm. You look down, the piece of shattered vase is now a small statuette of a horse with your name engraved on its base. You put it on the coffee table and pick up the second piece. As expected, you look down to see another horse statuette with your name on its base. Interestingly enough, your name is spelled differently, but importantly, it's not incorrect, it's still your name after all.

Confused but not concerned, you place that statue next to the first one and continue picking up the rest of the shattered vase. Each piece becomes the same thing: a statuette of a horse with your name labelled neatly on its base.

Each time you see your name, it's spelled differently. Sometimes it has less letters, sometimes it has more, but importantly, it's never incorrect, it's your name, it's always been your name.

Eventually all of the pieces of the vase have been cleaned up and a fair number of horse statuettes line your coffee table. But you don't feel the need to count them, to quantify them, to focus on each specific one.

"Why should I?" You ask yourself. "They're good enough just they way they are."
