So this au is called the Tethered AU, and it will be inspired by a movie and Tombs disconnect from himself before his murder

Uhh it may be a bit long so bear with me

So the movie this AU is based on is called Us (by Jordan Peele), and long story short the antagonists in the film are these dopplegangers called the Tethered. They were created by the government as an attempt to control people, but it failed (since only the body and not the soul could be copied) and they were abandoned. I won't try to spoil too much, but basically the tethered eventually decide to kill their originals to "untether themselves" and claim lives they could never have

But as to how it relates to the AU, what if the killers and their pasts are two seperate physical entities?? Like basically, the characters technically survived their attempted murders and went to live a semi normal life, but the murders led to the creation of different physical versions of themselves, their "tethered" (which are very similar to who they are in the current timeline of the series). After all, Tomb is shown to feel disconnect between him and Charlie, and I imagine that at least some of the other slashers feel this way as well. So why not make the disconnect both mental AND physical???

An example of this:

While these 2 are technically the same in canon (as in the bodies and brain are not two seperate things), in the Tethered AU, they are physically and mentally two seperate bodies and have different names from each other, only connected by their basic physical similarities (face shape and hair, for example) and their souls, rather than mind or body.

The AU would mostly consist of the "originals" interacting with their Tethered counterparts (and possibly them trying not to get killed by them, in some cases)
