i wrote a little something hope you enjoy (this is published on my wattpad @gothbbyyx) everything other than my mashle book is hot cross buns because it was written in 2020 but ill write more often when i’m on vacation between the 14th and 28th 👀 (hopefully sigh)

It was a normal day at Easton Magic Academy. As normal as it usually is in a magic school for you, of course.
Today was a study day on Magic History for you. Little did you know, you would experience something you never would have thought you’d experience today.
“Okay… you got this [y/n],” I whispered to myself as I pushed open the door to the library. Since midterms were coming up, I wanted to get some studying in before I even attempted to go to my dorm for the night.
There was only one free chair left, but it was right next to Mash Burnedead. The guy who has rumors that he can’t use magic… It doesn’t matter, I’m going to study whether it meant sitting next to Mash Burnedead or sitting on my cold dorm room floor :c
[3rd person POV] (so many POV changes I know…)
They approached and looked over at Mash before speaking.
“Excuse me. May I sit here?”
Mash glanced over and stared for a second.
Well… a lot longer than a second.
“Excuse him, his brain is overloaded right now.”
They looked up at the voice that was speaking. It was Lance Crown. They had also heard of him along with Mash by rumors. The two were very powerful. That’s what everyone said.
“You can sit. If you want, you could study with us too. We’re trying to help Mash with Magic History for the midterms,” Lance offered. Oh wow, he was being surprisingly nice. Or maybe he just wanted more help tutoring Mash…
“Sure! I was actually planning on studying the same thing… what a coincidence,” they chuckled and dropped their books on the table.
[1st person POV] (last time I think)
I was sitting attentively next to Mash as Lance explained the start of Magic History to Mash.
I witnessed firsthand why Lance even asked for help
every couple of minutes, Mash would become unresponsive. To me, it was kinda cute! A little endearing.
Lance let out a heavy sigh and pointed at… me!
“What’s your name? That doesn’t matter. Do you think you could try explaining it to him?” Oh wow, rude much?
“I’m [y/n]… and I can try.” I awkwardly shuffled my own notes in order from the oldest to the newest, and I looked over at Mash, who was already looking at me.
I started reading off of my notes, and… I wasn’t sure if he actually understood anything I said or if he was just… transfixed by me? I read another paragraph, and… he didn’t look like his brain was overloaded..
i stopped for a second and glanced at him before speaking again. This time to ask a question.
“Yup. A okay. Do keep reading.”
I nodded as well and continued reading my notes to him. For a guy that can’t use magic, he was pretty normal..

“You know, I’m impressed with your patience and understanding, [y/n]”
I was packing up my notes when the words of gratitude were spoken to me. After some time passed, more of Mash’s friends came to the library. The one expressing gratitude towards me was Finn Aimes, who I think also learned a little from my notes too.
“Oh, it’s really no worries. I enjoyed helping. Maybe we could brush up on different subjects next time.” I smiled, slipping my notes back into the folder they belonged in.
[omniscient POV] (i switch POVS so much sorry guys you get all four)
Mash’s heart beat a little differently when looking at [y/n], or listening to them speak. It was like he was drawn to them.
He felt lighter, and like he understood everything they had explained to him. More like their voice was ringing in his head. the sound of their voice..
“See you guys later!” [y/n] waved at the group, and they waved back. Mash did a small wave and then placed his hand to his chest. His heart was beating abnormally fast.
“Are you okay, Mash? You seem lost in thought, and you’re holding your chest!!” The concern of Finn snapped Mash back to reality.
“Oh. Me? I’m fine.” Mash answered in his usual deadpan tone. He then took a cream puff out of his pocket and began eating it. (so typical i love you mash)
“Maybe we should study more tomorrow and invite [Y/n]. They take good notes.” Mash got up from his seat, and he and his friends retreated back to their dorm.
But still, Mash could not shake off this feeling.
Why did I only feel that way when [Y/n] started helping?
Lance glanced at Mash. “You sure you’re fine?”
He lightly shook his head.
“I am. its just… this feeling…”
