Vivianne finds it a little odd the the blooms that affected her not too long ago have come back. They had taken root once again. Now, bright pink peonies decorated her head like a crown before she notices the tall man that had shielded her before.
Vivi feels her feet take herself closer, aware that the flora growing out of her was the force behind it.
When he speaks, she listens. As he apologizes, the Trainer just shakes her head. "It is alright. I am afraid that you are infected like I am." As she speaks, a flower shrivels and falls.
"The pollen forces you to speak your thoughts, or any truths. If you don't, flowers bloom. If you do, they wither and fall."
As if to demonstrate, another peony falls. "You are not in any wrong, monsieur." Vivi brushes the dried petals off her shoulder. "It is quite frustrating to experience this again."
His hand, still close to his mouth stays on stand-by as he watches the first, followed by the second, peony fall from the adorning crown on her head.
If he didn't speak his mind they would accumulate, then?
The thought temps itself on his lips and he is hesitant to hold it back, the roots of the pollen at affect, but he wins out in the end. For his transgression he is rewarded with the sensation of something quickly flicking up from beneath the collar of his shirt.
The motion startles him more than anything having not expected a flower so-- big.
His eyes blink at the Sunflower that has bloomed out from beneath the gap of his green tie and his white pressed shirt. Like an overbearing corsage. The sensation itself feeling no more harsh than a blister popping when pressed against too tight clothing. Was that tied to the severity of the statement he withheld?
Dark brown eyes pick up from his own 'minuet' burden to peer at the pink trainer once more.
"Again? So these flowers here are a common occurrence?"
It felt safer to ask it now, and he does note, curiously enough, how the flower doesn't fall when he asks a question. Likely it didn't meet the requirements of being honest, then.
It's crowded.
The urge about wanting to take public transportation if not for his own feet had been ingrained into him from a young age. So it would be impossible to not simply take it when offered.
However
The buses of this place, which seemed to differ between wards, were their own branch of chaotic. Let alone when you tried to include the infrastructure of the Spiral itself- and from it Fibonacci's many cobbled together layers.
Annoyance stokes at his brow but falls out of his chest in a sigh, head turning lightly to the other man closest near him. Not always one for small talk, but here, in this unusual world on an unusual bus with it's unusual passengers, it felt appropriate.
"These buses suck, huh? Or maybe this is just the way things are meant to be here- a natural state of uncomfortable harmony."
A pause finds itself in his breathing as he follows up.
"I've gotten to be a terrible pessimist about things, it seems."
Ah, the other pink haired face he had remembered encountering not too terribly long ago. She was an oddity to him, still new, still fresh. Still technically a stranger. And yet her presence wasn't unwanted.
Not even now, when he could tell something was happening to him on a scale he couldn't bring himself to think too deeply over.
That first thought, of a familiar stranger, haunts his subconscious in a way that he thought harmless until his mouth opens and with it comes-
"It's funny in a way. I usually find myself among strangers more often these days. Likely because I feel the need to drift here and there trying to forget--"
His hand is quick to slap over his mouth to cease those words before the rest can tumble out beyond the Too Much he'd already allowed to escape.
Something cold slithers down the back of his skull and against his pulse as he fights back the harsh tickle in his throat. Like he had swallowed something and it had stuck itself to his tonsils. It is a few harsh beats of silence before he can clear his throat.
"......My apologies, for that. I didn't mean to say something so Heavy."
He feels himself call out to the younger man (it had only recently been his birthday after all. To him anyways). But once his feet are stopping in front of the familiar shock of pink hair the lawyer, he finds himself unsure why.
Something unfathomable and deeply rooted in his person had brought him to seek the other out. Was there something he wanted to say? There were many, actually. Questions, confirmations and things that should not be spoken aloud to a teenager burn like an over exposure in the back of his mind. But only for a moment.
Higuruma feels a scratch along the back of his throat, reminding him of the pollen count in the air for the past few many days. The idle thought of this Island once again imposing things beyond his capabilities passes over him before he speaks again.
" ...Have you noticed anything different, recently? There's this sensation that I should be saying the first things that come to my mind. I'm not sure I enjoy the premise..though the freedom of it isn't too terrible."
Surely the mental whispers of his personal Fates--
It was careless of me to make such a wrong guess.
I thought you were an honest, straightforward person
--wouldn't impede his conversations too greatly.

What a fresh opening! One that makes even himself pause to glance along his sleeves and down to his palm in question. That had meant to truly be an inside thought- an observation to only be brought up later if at all.
Well.
Not like he could take it back now.
So he simply glances down to the bronze and rust colored figure, learning to suspend his disbelief more and more every day.
"Hm..well, even if you do, I'm not particularly upset by it. You might even be right if that's the case. You have that ...Vibe to you."
" 'You can't repeat the past' - but of course you can. "
He isn't sure what compels him to say these words to his neighbor. Something about no longer having to share an apartment space with a teenager allowing the more talkative part of himself to speak?
Surely it has nothing to do with the thin sheen of pollen that coats the panes of his windows in his bedroom.
His eyes don't necessarily look to the larger man standing outside against the guard rail of his respective balcony. A familiar sensation of speaking to the air and seeing what responds.
"The only catch is that you also have to give up the parts of yourself that you've gained since then. The past is only repeatable if you don't know anything different."

It’s a relatively quiet day, all things considered. No sudden outages, major bugs or hacker attacks. By all means, it was a perfectly normal day.
“Got any fives?”
“Go fish.”
Arcturus blinks and picks up their twelfth card.
“I don’t think you are playing this right.”
“Whatever do you mean?” Taygeta tilts its head curiously and asks back. “Do you have any fives?”
Arcturus removes one card from their hand and slides it over. With a triumphant beep, Taygeta pulls three cards from its own hand and places the stack of fives to the side. Arcturus stares blankly at the cards, then back at them.
“Again, I don’t think-”
The door to the breakroom swings open, banging loudly on the wall behind it. In the doorway stands none other than Edward, their much… tolerated janitor, armed with a broom currently held in an attack position. He scans the room and points the broom bristles at the only two people inside.
“Did one of you two take my lunch?” He asks in an even tone that does not correlate with the white-knuckled grip he has on the broom handle. “One that had my name on it in capital letters. And ‘Do not Eat’ right under that.”
Both of them shake their heads slowly. Edward exhales and lowers the broom to the ground.
“Well, then someone is clearly lying, because you are the last two people I asked.” He looks around the breakroom one last time, as if his lunchbox could hide in a corner somewhere before turning around. “Since nobody is willing to confess, I am going to review the security tapes. Sorry for the interruption.”
The door closes much more gently than it was opened and the breakroom is silent for a moment. Only a moment though, before Arcturus turns back to the cards still on the table.
“So, about those fives-”
“Isn’t it interesting,” Taygeta ignores them, still staring at the doorway, “How people are tempted to lie even when that might hurt them in the long run?”
Compelled by the question, Arctutus lowers their cards to the table.
“It is an interesting question,” they admit, “Why do people lie? Is it a defense mechanism? An ancient instinct from the olden times that has incorporated itself seamlessly into our modern lives? And-”
“-Can it be overridden? And what would society be like if lying was no longer an option?” Taygeta picks up, looking back at their companion. “That would be an interesting thing to test, don’t you think?”
Arcturus has already risen from their seat, their card dispute momentarily forgotten.
“What do you have in mind?”

In multiple places in the city, a unique type of flower starts to bloom in spite of the coming winter. With their red and purple petals and a strong but sweet scent, they just beg to be picked, put in a little flower crown or gifted to a treasured friend.
But, unbeknownst to the city inhabitants, the pollen from these flowers is more tricky than that from the regular ones. Where ordinary flower pollen only brings allergies to the unfortunate few, this pollen is wired to render anyone who touches it unable to lie and more than willing to spill the truths that they’d rather hide.
Though it can be possible to resist the pollen’s influence, it is a difficult feat, even more so for people who have much to hide. Each time you try it will only get harder… In fact, those who attempt it too much will notice that flowers will start to grow on their body as well. These batches of flowers will bloom and wither within days, sometimes hours, only to reappear in a different part of the island mere moments later. Check your lodgings, maybe there are some hiding in your house right now?

Welcome to our next event rerun: A Crocus Among Us!
As stated, a pretty new species of flower has bloomed on the island regardless of the snowy weather rolling in. Though the flowers' life cycle is fairly quick, they do pop up everywhere--from cracks in the concrete to personal gardens to parks... even the beaches aren't immune to this hardy flower. And neither are you!
The pollen from these flowers have a special property: If touched by it, it becomes increasingly difficult to hide the truth from others. This can be in several forms:
Lying outright becomes almost impossible
Keeping the truth from someone becomes very difficult (like keeping quiet, or omitting a crucial fact)
Reserved people are more likely to over-share information
People feel compelled to tell truths about themselves
If someone tries to resist the effects of the pollen anyway, their own body will begin to sprout flowers on its own. A person may start slowly become covered in flowers, leaves, vines, petals, or other plant-like growths until they spill the beans!
Frequently Asked Questions:
"How long does the pollen effect last?"
The effect wears off in a couple hours, provided a person doesn't get any new pollen on them.
Also, the effects will stop if the character is no longer covered in pollen, so taking a shower and changing clothes would also help. Of course, for that they would need to know that it’s the flowers that cause this whole situation...!
"Will damaging the flowers stop the pollen effects?"
In theory it should, yet these flowers seem impervious to any type of damage. Removing them from the earth does not stop them from blooming, and more will appear in the place of any that were taken away.
"If there is a secret related to my muse that they do not know, will the truth pollen reveal it?"
If it is something that they did not have any way to know about beforehand, then no. The pollen can only reveal secrets that the muse is aware of in some capacity.
For example, if it is something that they knew but repressed enough to hide it from everyone including themselves, the pollen might get it out of them. Of course, someone would still need to ask a specific question for it to come up, or they would need to talk long enough to get that secret out of their own brain.
"If my muse is not human, will they still be affected?"
Yes! Anyone who can be covered by pollen will experience the same effects.
"How long will my muse be able to resist the effects of the pollen?"
It depends on your muse’s willpower and pain threshold. The more secrets your muse has, the harder - and more painful - it would be to resist the pollen. At some point, the truths will start spilling even through their teeth. Stronger ones might hold out for about a day, but it is very unlikely someone could go longer than that.
"What about flowers that sprout from people who try to resist the pollen, will they show up on muses that are not human?"
Sure, why wouldn’t they? You might even customize what specific flowers will grow from your muse if you want. Maybe their metallic chassis will get covered in lichen instead, or, if your muse is particularly big, small trees might suit them more.
"Does that affect my muse only visually, or can the flower growths hurt them?"
It is supposed to be a visual change only--while resisting the pollen itself may lead to pain, the flowers or other plant growths do not in and of themselves. But… Who knows? Maybe your muse was unlucky enough to get a bugged version that makes them feel pain where the flowers appear. See where your angsty heart leads you~
"How long will the event last?"
The event will run from May 1st until May 22nd at 11:59:59PM!

The mention of visiting was ready to be lightly, and politely, declined as most things in society are done for the first time-- until she makes mention of his powers returning to him if her were to step foot in there.
It gets him to blink. At least twice.
His hand on his tie stilling as he looks down at her proper, an eyebrow raising as he speaks.
"...Really?"
He doesn't mean to sound dubious, but why would this place, that makes it a Point to turn you into as normal an individual as possible, allow such a place to exist freely?
It felt like a trap, perhaps. Or at the least a test.
"Is that by design or by coincidence? Not to diminish your Shrine, of course, I'm simply curious of the limitations of this new world."
It's said freely, without hesitation, before he leans back and shoves his hands back into his pockets.
"You know what they say about you - they say you're as good as I am. No one's at my level, so it must mean you're awfully strong. I don't know how to deal with it." It pisses me off. "I'd like to see you get back to full strength, you know, so we can actually test what they say."
It was never said aloud but he knows, based on how testimony came around, that something almost similar had happened in Shinjuku before.
Pushed to a corner and forced to adapt or die. Was because he had been entertaining, interesting...fascinating.
Higuruma feels himself adjusting at his collar, an urge to smooth something down aside from the wrinkle of annoyance he felt.
"Of course you would. Sorry to say but I'll likely only end up disappointing you. I'm not a Calamity, in strength. I've no means to reduce an entire city block to rubble, after all." He stills as he feels his pupils lock up beneath his heavy eyes at the taller sorcerer, not necessarily backing down from his own thinly veiled annoyance.
"However. That's not to say I wouldn't like to see you humbled."
“This might sound strange, but can I hide behind you for a moment?”
First Encounters // Accepting
There is an unmistakable hesitation at the shorter woman asking him such a question out of the blue..But, no, beyond that, this would be the third light pink haired individual he's met in his life.
Something inclines him to believe it's natural as well.
Small irises rise beyond her towards the way she just came, knowing it might be foolish, but he had no reason to assume otherwise.
His hand raises with his arm and he ushers her behind him without a word. Eyes turning back down to his watch on his wrist like counting the seconds might help with whatever it was she was hiding from.
"..Not the common way to meet someone, I have to admit. But what exactly is it you're running from?"
