analysis of meet me in the hallway from a drug addicts perspective
to me this is a breakup song, but a very real and honest one, a first hand perspective from going through a breakup as a drug addict.Â
Meet me in the hallway  Meet me in the hallway                                             I just left your bedroom
here harry is pleading to his lover who he just had a breakup with, the reason to this breakup i believe is the drug addiction he is singing about, to come back to him, to meet him outside of the room of the breakup, in a better place.
Give me some morphine                                          Is there any more to do?
the lyrics here is very clearly spoken, he wants to stop feeling the pain of being left, this reminds me extremely of the feeling i got when rasmus left me, then i only drank and smoked weed but it was very much trying to escape reality and not caring about the health perspectives because it felt like there wasn’t anything else for me left.
Just let me know I'll be at the door, at the door  Hoping you'll come around
once again begging for the person who left him to come back, hoping for them to come back.
Just let me know I'll be on the floor, on the floor
here he is either singing about how weak he is and how easy the person could get him back, he’s so broken he’s on the floor waiting for them to come back, or it’s the more abstract meaning, a drug overdose, he’s doing his best to survive without them but he still finds himself close to death because he only takes more for each time so he wont have to feel.  Â
Maybe we'll work it out                                             I gotta get better, gotta get better                                    I gotta get better, gotta get better                                    I gotta get better, gotta get better                                    And maybe we'll work it out
harry realises that it’s because of the drug abuse telling himself and the ex that he will get better and then they will come back although both know that he won’t get better, that’s why it’s only a maybe, there is no guarantee.
I walked the streets all day  Running with the thieves
he has now gotten so far into the addiction, he now has nothing lefts, he is alone with the thieves, the cast away criminals of the world, walking the street since he has no home left
'Cause you left me in the hallway  Give me some more  Just take the pain away
once again being clear with his words, he was left he just wants more, just looking for a way to get away from the truth. and once again this is so real for me, it reminds me of when i had troubles with a break up and did tons of amphetamine but when i had none left i needed more, benzo it was.  Just let me know I'll be at the door, at the door  Hoping you'll come around  Just let me know I'll be on the floor, on the floor  Maybe we'll work it out  Gotta get better, gotta get better  Gotta get better, gotta get better  Gotta get better, gotta get better  And maybe we'll work it out
same as last chorus  We don't talk about it  It's something we don't do  'Cause once you go without it  Nothing else will do
when suffering from an addiction, you don’t realise it at first, and it’s nothing you talk about it, that’s why it’s a very lonely road you can never open up. he also mentions the whole base of an addiction, you can’t ever truly be rid of it, cause there is nothing that can ever make you feel the same again
when will i begin to feel again?
The only way to have something forever…. Is to lose it.
That’s not  justice

There is no such thing as justice. What a broken and disgusting system

During the 1980s, more gay men died in New York City during the AIDS crisis than all recorded deaths of American soldiers in Vietnam. You need to know that.
