Summary:
Charles thought about the energy that had passed between their hands, back in the courtyard. He could still feel it, as if a bit of Edwinβs magic had been left behind in him to thrum under his skin. He wondered if Edwin could feel something too; whether some part of Charles had stayed with him as well.
But as quickly as the thought came to him, he quashed it, with a sinking heart he tried to ignore. It was more likely, Charles reckoned, that Edwin hadnβt noticed a thing out of the ordinary. This was edwinβs world, after allβand for all Charles knew, this was the feeling that came along with every spell. Charles couldnβt exactly ask, could he? He couldnβt even explain the sensation to himself.

In Edwin Payne's magical world, the practice of dream magick has long been outlawed. But after Edwin's bullies trap him in an endless nightmare using a contraband spellbook, the portal through which he escapes leads him to a mundane parallel universe, and to a chance meeting with Charles Rowland which intertwines their lives forever.
