oh! it was long white radish, cut into 3cm slices, which are then incised from one side for more even and fast steaming - also excellent for catching glaze and slicing of bite sized pieces while eating!

yama wayama is a much younger mangaka whose work i really enjoy and i feel like there's actually a connection there. obviously her work is a lot more humorous and she really does not go for drama (unlike soryo) but hm i feel like something they both do very well is make you feel like their characters have an interiority you don't get access to? a sort of huh, i wonder what they're thinking that is very intruiging and never completely resolved but still explored.

treated myself to actual bookbinders cardboard for two of the cases after the first one warped in two different directions (small multicolored one) and i'm very happy with the results.
i still think the books with stiff boards binding make the best sketchbooks because they're so quick to put together. but i like being able to do casebound too :)
the copyshop didn't charge me for trimming them and i got to do the alright then this is for coffee and snacks move, exciting stuff.
i absolutely loved the way the paste filled blue bookcloth i made behaved and how it looks and feels now. it was a very sturdy old sheet to begin with and turning it into bookcloth went very smoothly. will be doing that again. preferred it over backing with paper.
