Well, to begin with, it was early 1861. The civil war had just begun and I lived in Philadelphia, and all the guys I knew were enlisting in the union army. Anyways, because of this, this chick I had the hots for was being wooed by this guy I knew who was really you know brave a strong and blah blah blah because he was going off to fight in the war. So, naturally, I challenged him to a duel because I was young and stupid. But, my stupidity didn’t get any better from there. Because I knew this guy was a hell of a lot of a better shot than me, I stressed about it that entire night, and so when it was nearing Dawn, I went to kiss my parents goodbye, and you know, ride off to my death. Well, when I went back into the kitchen to grab my coat, (the duel was on the other guy’s estate and the pistols would be provided there) there was this book I had never seen before, open and lying on the table. It was really old, and honestly gives me the creeps to just think about it. It was opened to this quick ritual, just a chant and some candles and shit to bring immortality. Now let me tell you something, when you know you’re going to die, and haven’t quite accepted that fate, you get desperate and make idiotic decisions. I did the ritual, and the price for immortality was my soul. So, I sold my soul, and went off to the duel. Long story short, I shot him in the arm and won, the duel and the girl. And after a bit, I told her my secret. That got me a slap in the face and a mob burning my house and chasing me out of Philly. I was a wanderer, until I came back to Philly and met Tom and Eric and now everybody’s all caught up and I’m going to go throw up.
