Felicity had to push her lips together to hold back the smile that threatened spread on her face. Not that Patty’s words didn’t sound funny, but her expression screamed her need for a hug, not to be laughed at. “Hey, how about you stop panicking over it? I heard Barry got so drunk at his bachelor party that he spread chicken sauce all over his face,” she blurt out, stopping the second she remembered the tiny detail where Patty and Barry used to date. “—Sorry. Bad example. The point is, people do stupid things while they’re drunk. So how about you take a breath and tell me what happened?” she suggested, her hands pushing and pulling at her chair’s wheels as she toyed with it.
“--- it’s okay, you know,” patty spoke after a long silence. “you can mention barry about me. his name doesn’t make me cry... anymore, i promise. i know he’s married to iris, and i’m happy for him. honestly, i really am.” besides, it wasn’t like she could compete or change things. they were barry and iris, practically written in the stars. it took a while, but patty eventually accepted that and attempted to move on. though it did hurt a little to watch the relationship unfold on her facebook timeline. thankfully, she buried her head in her work and studies and it got a little better to cope with, and now... well, now there was daniel. when a breath was suggested, patty nodded slowly and took a deep breath, though she almost forgot to exhale as the reality of the situation took over again. “ikindofgotmarriedtoaguyibarelyknowandnowidon’tknowwhattodo,” she fired out, cheeks burning brick red.
blackcanarysongbird:
“Oh, c’mon I’m sure it can’t have been that bad” Dinah replied with a small chuckle, laughing still hurt but she couldn’t help it right now. Focusing on whatever problem Patty had was also a nice distraction from the fact that she desperately wanted a drink. “Just tell me what happened and we’ll go from there, sound good?”
“would you still say that if i said it might involve me needing to seek out legal advice? or, at least, some form of lawyer?” patty asked, eyebrow arched as fingers fidgeted with the edges of her sleeves. “i uh... got married,” she lifted a hand and displayed the panda ring. a ring, for some reason, that she had yet to remove.
greenarrvw:
‘ the mornings after, waking up to realize all of the stupid things you’ve done – that’s one of the reasons i’m glad that i’m not much of a drinker these days.’ there’s a hint of understanding in his smile. the occasional glass of good whiskey or vodka he had now was nothing comparable to the blackout parties of his youth. ‘ but i’m probably the farthest thing from a saint there is when it comes to embarrassing drinking stories. trust me, we’ve all been there. i’m sure whatever you did isn’t worth getting so worked up over.’
“i’m not much of a drinker. well, i’m not supposed to be - not with my kind of job,, anyway,” patty practically rambled through her reply. “it was just the -- i guess i just wanted to relax after... you know,” she waved a hand around in place of her words, making a face. that weekend was rough on everyone, but she doubted anyone was stupid enough to go out and get themselves married while intoxicated. this seemed like a mess isolated to just herself and, well... daniel. “did you ever wake up in the morning with a panda ring on your finger and an official registry form because -- because if not then you’re really missing out on life...” god, that was a terrible joke, and the fact that she was deadly silent afterwards showed that she knew that.
bxtgirlisms:
❝ oh, come on. it couldn’t be that bad, right? ❞ she quirked a brow, curiosity always got the better of her. she wasn’t particularly close with patty, but she shared enough mutual friends that they could talk without a sense of awkwardness, in barbara’s opinion. ❝ okay, i’m definitely not hitting you with a shovel. we’ve all mad questionable choices after drinking. maybe you’re just being a little hard on yourself? ❞
“you’d be surprised,” patty groaned as forehead met hand. normally she wasn’t one for dramatics but this felt like a situation that called for it, and she couldn’t get rid of the desire to crawl into a hole and never come back out again. “put it this way, my mom never misses an opportunity to brag about me, but after this? i don’t think she’ll even want to bring me up in conversation ever again. it’s that bad.”

“I have to admit I’ve never done this either” Dan commented as he watched the woman his wife now apparently pacing around the floor. He usually didn’t drink this much, and he’d never gotten married while drunk, first time for everything he supposed. “Walker, my surname, it’s… it’s Walker.”
“walker... david -- no, daniel... daniel walker, right?” god, she felt like an idiot. she could already hear her mother’s voice ringing in her ears, berating her daughter’s stupidity for marrying someone she didn’t know while drunk. it was like the ultimate no-no when it came to patricia spivot’s mother. reaching up, she pinched the bridge of her nose then offered the somewhat familiar male a smile. “do you remember much from last night? i mean, i remember you from the fires and you helped me rescue that dog then gave me a ride to vegas to see my mom, but other than that it’s pretty hazy. what -- what are we going to do?”
fcstestman:
“alright. duly noted.” barry offers her a smile, seemingly amused at her plight. suspecting she hadn’t done anything too detrimental. embarrassing, perhaps, but not life threatening. “what did you do? it can’t be that bad. on the night of my bachelor party, we got arrested. and i started crying about chicken wings.”
patty dropped her head forward and hid behind her hands for a moment or two. the last person she expected to have this conversation with was her ex; an ex that would always mean the world to her, and the redness that was rushing to her ears right now was betraying the fact that she was trying to hide her shame. “to be fair, i’ve seen you cry over chicken nuggets so wings doesn’t surprise me at all,” she muttered, the attempt of a joke lingering on the edge of her tongue. damn it. “i uh -- let’s just say you’re not the only one who has made it official. the only difference is that you’re in love and i was uh... drunk.”

“so, uh... i don’t usually do... that,” patty eventually spoke up after what seemed like an eternity of pacing in silence, her thumb playing with the panda ring on her finger. the ring might be fake, but the documentation on the kitchen table was not. her drunk self was apparently just as efficient and official as her sober self. fantastic. “what are we going to do? i mean, i don’t even know your surname or, well... anything, really.” this was a disaster.
@danielxwalker
“remind me to never drink again,” patty grumbled as she paced the floor, arms folded across her chest as she attempted to will the past weekend gone. “i went to visit my mom out of state and hitched a ride with a friend and now – god, i’m so embarrassed. – hey, do you mind picking that shovel up over there and whack me over the head with it? thanks.”
shrinkster:
“i got a little bit beaten up, it’s fine!” and really, it is. everyone’s been injured during the chaos, nobody’s really escaped undamaged. that doesn’t take away the sting of the bump on the back of his head, or the aching of his probably broken nose, but it makes him less inclined to do anything about it. “it wasn’t fun, but then again, when are injuries fun, right?” he jokes, as he always does when things are getting a little bit too serious. “hit my head on some metal. well, the metal hit me, really. but it’s fine!”
“and here was me thinking that i was the optimistic one,” patty laughed as she sat down beside him, eyes double checking the damage on his face despite him ensuring her that he was okay. she didn’t quite believe him, but that was going to go unsaid. the look on her face spoke loud enough, anyway. “do you want me to arrest that piece of metal? i think i can do that. well... i haven’t exactly found anything about it in the rule book, but i could always add it?” she laughed, softly. “are you sure you don’t need anything? water? painkillers? you should at least rest, anyway”
speedyqveens:
thea took one look at the bar and stumbled right back out of the once intact glass doors. planks of wood now covered the once pristine entrance. she knew it could be worse, knew most of the neighboring businesses had gotten worse. and as she moved to sit down on the concrete, the large gash on her abdomen causing her to wince reminded her it could have been so much worse, and not just for the bar.
she noticed a pair of shoes appear beside her as she gazed at the ground, remnants of the recent event still remained. she gave a wry smile, her voice rough as she spoke. ❛ suffice it to say, we’re not open yet. besides, it’s only 1 pm, that’s early even for me. ❜ she glanced up, giving them a small smile, one that wasn’t particularly happy or sad, just placid and tired because it was all she could manage at the moment.
“oh, i know,” patty nodded slowly as she gave the younger female a small smile. “i wasn’t actually looking to drink, i was just -- i’m working, actually,” she went on to say. “i’m just going around to make sure that the clean up that’s happening around the city is going okay and that everyone is safe... and stuff.” patty rubbed at the back of her neck as she glanced around, the once majestic scenery now nothing but a memory in the minds of those that lived there; a memory now scarred by flames and blood. maybe she should have stayed gone if this was what was going to be her life now -- then again, it was the life she chased, wasn’t it? it had to be... “is there anything i can help you with?”

“so, how does it feel? tell me, how does it feel— to get your ass kicked royally in pool? like, i was at least hoping for a challenge.”
patty barely heard a word her colleague said as she stared at a spot on the wall, a half finished beer pinned between her hands. after what seemed like an eternity, patty turned her head as green eyes widened. “oh... you won,” she pointed out mindlessly. “that means i buy the next round, right? i... forgot the wager.”
