What captivated me most about Requiem: The Remains of the Day by Ruth Morgan was the haunting resilience of the murals still intact despite the devastating Dixie Fire that ravaged Greenville, CA. Their survival amid such widespread destruction served as a powerful symbol of memory and presence, even in absence. Through stark, person-less photographs of charred landscapes and abandoned remnants, Morgan evokes the lives and stories lost in the fire while calling urgent attention to the human toll of climate change and corporate negligence. The exhibit is both a tribute and a warning—deeply moving, visually arresting, and impossible to forget.
