Look, umβ¦ Thereβs a party this Saturday, at Bramβs. Do you want to go with my friends and I?
& @handcraftcd ο½₯οΎβ§*Β hye-jin !
oliver was tired. it was a busy day in harris bookstore β relatively speaking, because it was never actually that busy β and he had just gotten off the phone with an angry customer who seemed less like she had an actual complaint and more like she just wanted someone to yell at. and so, the sudden appearance of hye-jin was a welcome change of pace: here was someone that wouldnβt yell at him. ( at least . . . he hoped not. ) he liked her. not just because she was unbelievably kind and generous, but also because she was good at gardening β something he had tried and failed at. repeatedly. βhye-jin!β he moved away from the register to greet her properly, already reenergized by her friendly face. βwhat are you looking for? we just got in a new order of horticulture books and i have to admit . . . i have absolutely no idea what any of them are about. but maybe youβd like to check them out. at the very least, you could explain to me why anyone would need an entire book on the farming of mushrooms.βΒ

@dcnimjacketβ ββ for oliver !
a slow day. a slow day indeed. between the construction ( that would inevitably bring a chain bookstore ), the internet, and e-readers, the customers were beginning to seem more like a cult: all interested in the same thing, always coming back, always trying to but rarely adding new membersβ¦ a cult. it was understandable, she supposed β internet and e-readers made for easy access, but how depressing it grew ! as she began returning one book a customer had placed in front of another to its original spot ( some autobiography in front of another autobiography β it was seen often ), one question crossed her mind and one question alone β one she would certainly have to ask oliver.Β β what do you think possesses people to write autobiographies ? β staring down at the unfamiliar face that graced the cover, she continued,Β β i mean, not because theyβre, like, bad, but, likeβ¦ if they arenβt a celebrity, like this guy- β - if nothing else, she was pretty sure the guy on the cover wasnβt a celebrity -Β β then why do you think they put their whole life on blast and just, like, hope itβll sell ? β ah, perhaps it was projection ( yes, it was definitely projection ), but jo figured it was a fair question !
on slow days in the bookstore, oliver was incredibly grateful for jo. ( although, if he was being honest with himself, he was always grateful for jo. ) still . . . on days like today, when they were the only two people in the bookstore for hours on end, he was especially grateful for her company β for her curious questions and comforting presence. he stopped shelving to peer over her shoulder, squinting at the book in her hands. βi have no idea.β he pulled out another autobiography from the shelf, examining the front. the book was obnoxiously bright with a title font that bore an unfortunate resemblance to papyrus. oliver wasnβt a design expert, but even he knew this was bad. βthis cover is terrible.β he mused, more to himself than to her. βi donβt know . . . maybe thereβs something therapeutic about the vulnerability? like . . . putting your whole life story out there. even if it doesnβt sell . . . maybe it feels freeing. kinda like a confession.β he placed the book back carefully. βor maybe itβs just about the money. yeah. probably that.β
another meme i wonβt finish: male characters (3/20) - nick miller (new girl)
I was born on a cold, lonely street on the South Side of Chicago. As rumor has it, and thereβs no proof of this, obviously, but I delivered myself.

lucia morales, princess of panic. evident in the utterly obnoxiousΒ clicking of glittered acrylics across her phone, the girl anxiouslyΒ glares at the email from her next client. be at lax by 6:00am, it read, signed off withoutΒ a trace of optimism. this is it, her big makeΒ or breakΒ moment of her social status. cell tucked in her skirt pocket, delilah continues to browse the boutique racks, urgentlyΒ looking for some type of wowΒ factor to appear between hangers. nose scrunches in dissatisfaction, before tapping on the shoulder of the other person at her side.Β βΒ hi, you look like you could give me good advice, i need your help,Β βΒ lucia piped, free hand gripping onto her purse straps.Β βΒ so,Β majorΒ dilemma going on. iβve got a HUGEΒ client to style back in los angeles next week. cool, right ?Β but hereβs the bad part, and i mean reallyΒ bad in my books β¦ iβve got no inspiration. nada, absolutely nothingΒ is inspiring me. but since youβre here, and not busy,Β i suppose, do you think i could pick your brainΒ for just a few hours and try and styleΒ you ? itβd be like a little shopping spree, makeover hangout βsesh. iβll evenΒ take you out to eat, so youβre not super hungry. what dβya sayΒ ? Β βΒ Β
oliver really wasnβt the shopping type. he didnβt much care for fashion in general. he was fine with his closet of threadbare sweaters, faded t-shirts, and ancient jeans. still, while he wasnβt the shopping type, he was the sales type . . . and this shop happened to be having a pretty good one. even so, he had just intended to pop in and out. for this reason, when a girl accosted him in front of a rack of vaguely expensive looking shirts, talking about shopping sprees and makeovers, he was initially tempted to say no.Β it wouldnβt have been hard to make some excuse about having to work later or something. but the girl seemed incredibly stressed, and he had the day off anyways. besides, he could never say no to food. βyeah. sure. but . . . are you sure you donβt want to pick the brain of someone less . . . boring?β he gestured apologetically at the article of clothing in his hand: another black sweater for his endless collection. βi have like five of these. iβve become one of those cartoon characters that insist on wearing the same thing every day.β
tag drop !
* Β nick robinson. twenty-three. male. he/him. Β | Β did you see oliver scott this morning on main street? i heard they were heading towards the protests. theyβve been in ballard for their whole life and last time i spoke to them, they were an employee at harris bookshop. if i remember correctly, theyβre a libra and they remind me of handwritten notes, loose change, and jean jackets probably because theyβre idealistic and impetuous.Β
