SHE ANNOYS THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF ME!!!EVERY WORD OUT OF MOUTH IS A SEXUAL INNUENDO WHICH WAS CUTE AT FIRST BUT THEN IT BECAME FUCKING IRRITATING TO WHERE’S NOW EVERY TIME I HEAR HER TALK I GET ANNOYEDIT’S LIKE THEY DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH HER OUTSIDE OF A LOVE INTEREST SO THEY JUST STEAL CHARACTERISTICS AND STORYLINES OF OTHER COMIC BOOK FEMALE CHARACTERS AND GIVE THEM TO FELICITYI’M TIRED OF SEEING HER!! I PUT UP WITH HER ON ARROW …WHY DO I HAVE TO SEE HER ON THE FLASH EVERY OTHER WEEK FOR NO OTHER REASON BUT TO TAKE AWAY SCREEN TIME FROM CHARACTERS THAT I ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT AND WANT TO SEE HER FANBASE IS DISGUSTING!!!AS FOR THE COMPARISON TO KARA. KARA HAS A BACK STORY, KARA HAS A CURRENTLY EXISTING STORY OUTSIDE OF THE MEN IN HER LIFE, KARA CAN TALK AND CARRY A NORMAL CONVERSATION WITHOUT MAKING IT SEXUAL I. JUST. DON’T. LIKE. FELICITY

This is the thing: if Oliver and Felicity broke up, and suddenly Oliver and Laurel got back together then it would be fanservice. It would be servicing the fans of the Oliver and Laurel relationship. It would be servicing the comic book fans of the show. Whatever you want to call it. However, if they develop their reunion, and these feelings, then it’s not fanservice. 

The reason Olicity is seen as fanservice, in my eyes, is because Oliver went from loving Laurel (and saying he missed her the most during those five years away), to being in a relationship with Sara, pretending he loved Felicity to trick Slade, and then the new season started with him confident in his love for Felicity, talking about seeing her with the red pen and all of that as though he had feelings for her this entire time (which wasn’t shown on screen at all). 

So, it’s all in the execution of it. 

As a Laurel and Oliver fan, I don’t want Olicity to break up at the end of this season, and 501 have Oliver in love with Laurel. That would be the same situation as Oliver going from Sara to Felicity. That’s why, I believe, the ship can be categorised as ‘fan service.’ I want Laurel and Oliver to receive development, to see a journey of them falling back into this love they shared for each other. I don’t want this lightswitch romance and admission of feelings that I felt Oliver/Felicity got. Now, if Oliver and Felicity received the same thing, and received that level of development, then I wouldn’t find much reason to complain about them or not ship them.
