Vegeta: I would hit him as hard as I could if I thought that he could handle it! But the boy is too weak! He doesnt even have the constitution to learn our family Gallick Gun.

Tarble: Wow. Maybe you just need to hit him more? Maybe he doesnt feel like you're hitting him enough. You should try to connect with him more by hitting him more.

Vegeta: Oh, I've tried it all, Tarble. But the boy just wont take. His mother thinks that hes doing fine but I see all the wasted potential. I'll tell you - he's lazy, that's what it is. He doesnt care about meeting any sort of standard.

Tarble: Hm. Well, it sounds like you're doing everything you can Vegeta. I'm sorry that your son is such a failure. It must be his human blood dragging him down.

Vegeta: I also blame my wife for cutting off his tail and foreskin at birth. It was just too soon for him. But he also should be able to overcome that by now. The whole thing is a mess.

Vegeta: You know Tarble, that's a fair point. When was the last time I hit him? It's been two days already. Hm... When he was younger, I think that I tried harder with him. But at some point I began to feel like he wasn't meeting his potential, and that in turn made me treat him like he wasnt capable of doing so - I perceived him as hopeless, and so I began to treat him like he was hopeless, and I think that that has really made him feel hopeless. I havent been aware of how I treat him, the effect I have on him. What I need to do is treat him like I believe in him, and then he can feel that and start to believe in himself. I havent realized how much I've been keeping him down by playing into this feedback loop. I need to hit him harder to communicate that I believe that he can handle it. Because he can. You're right, Tarble - I do need to hit him more, instead of relegating him to the backseat as a failure.

Tarble: Yeah, and then maybe spit on him a little bit too. Really make him feel useless.

Vegeta: ...No, I don't want him to feel useless, I want him to be useful. I want him to have some pride.

Tarble:

Vegeta: Because he's my son and a Saiyan. I want him to live up to his potential. I ... don't necessarily want to live to see this, but also I need to live to see this: I want him to surpass me one day. The day that he puts his old man to shame is the day that he earns my greatest pride in him.

Tarble:

Vegeta: I want him to never stop striving to better himself. That's what I want most for him, is that pride and self-satisfaction at every improvement.

Tarble: .... I'm not getting it. When do you throw him in a space pod and banish him to a faraway planet?

Vegeta: We're not doing that.
