We should be fighting to redistribute reservation benifits to ostracised SCs/STs who are constantly facing discrimination in small towns and villages so that they can start at an equitable footing, NOT removing reservation entirely because some people think "Caste inequality is a thing of the past."
This thing is so frustrating to look at, knowing very well it isn't. Take this from someone who is from rural india, it certainly is not.
It's kind appaling how everyone barks at the wrong tree. No one demands quality education for everyone at grassroots level as if suddenly getting reservation at 18 is going to undo all that poor education and have no consequences at all.

"Onam is not Hindu, it's Malayali secular festival"
Oh? Åravaį¹am-> Åroį¹am -> oį¹am. Shravana is a Hindu month of the Hindu calendar. Any festival's tithi decided on Hindu Jyotish Sastra or Nakshatra is a Hindu Festival. Yes it's special in Kerala, but it is still Hindu.
Why are colonialists whitewashing Aurangzeb?
This is extremely bizarre. Henry VIII is credited to have made England break away from the Catholic Church, declared the English king the supreme of the English Church, but he isn't celebrated nor whitewashed. His history is studied neutrally, and he is not generating heated debates because a large section of the society is not trying to convince that Henry VIII was "just a shrewd monarch trying to keep the Great Britain together, and his misogyny was no big deal".
These people are now claiming that the seminal work of historian Jadunath Sarkar was responsible for crystallising that "tyrant" image of Aurangzeb, which according to the author, and a certain cohort, "lacked nuance". The author prefers the historiography of Richard Eaton and Audrey Truschke.
Contrary to what the author believes, Jadunath Sarkar's biography of Aurangzeb is rather sympathetic to him as a monarch, but unlike Truschke's or Eaton's works, Sarkar's book is not a hagiography of Aurangzeb. Sakar's work is far more comprehensive and analytical and either of these.
Sarkar critically analysed Aurangzeb's jizya policy, his conflicts with sections of the Rajputs and Sikhs, and especially the long Deccan wars that drained the empireās resources. But he did not portray Aurangzeb as merely a bigot or a tyrant. Sarkar has characterised Aurangzeb as a deeply disciplined monarch. Unlike several of his predecessors, Aurangzeb was not a ruler who left governance to favourites and courtiers; he personally engaged with the machinery of the state. Sarkar also understood the political pressures that shaped Aurangzebās choices. The war of succession among Shah Jahanās sons, the instability of Mughal politics, and the challenge of governing a diverse empire all influenced his decisions.
Why is Jadunath Sarkar then vilified? Just because he didn't sing praises to Aurangzeb? This is a form of gaslighting to many Indians who still have familial memory of what Aurangzeb did to their forefathers. The Mughal taxation and land revenue system contributed to leaving many people to generational poverty. The (Marxist) historians of India, who see everything through the lens of the proletariat, sure do spend a lot of time trying to whitewash Aurangzeb.
At some point, Indians need to be asking the right questions - why so many crores of rupees are wasted on whitewashing the likes of Aurangzeb.

Tired of seeing all that Umar Khalid glazing over here, especially by Tankies who never bothered to actually read the chargesheet, so here's a detailed post abt what actually happened.
Firstly, Umar Khalid was arrested by the Delhi Police in September 2020 under Case FIR 59/2020, charged under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), India's primary anti-terror law, alongside charges of murder and sedition.
The prosecutionās core case was that the February NE Delhi riots, which killed 53 people fyi, were not a sudden, spontaneous outburst.
Instead, the chargesheet alleged Khalid was a central remote mastermind who used anti-CAA protests to deliberately trigger communal violence and disrupt public order.
Now, Delhi HC and the Supreme Court have repeatedly DENIED him regular bail because the evidence points to a deeply planned conspiracy.
The police submitted thousands of pages of chats from groups like the Delhi Protests Support Group (DPSG). The Delhi HC explicitly stated these chats āprima facie prove a conspiracy, that they were together.ā
To this accusation, Khalid's team argued he was just a "silent member" who didn't type most messages. This is btw a weak defence. In a conspiracy case, being part of the secret coordinating unit makes you legally complicit.
The riots involved highly organized logistics. Terraces were systematically stockpiled weeks in advance with stones, petrol bombs, acid bottles, and mirchi bombs designed specifically to blind and disorient the police. The defense has never been able to factually explain away how these thousands of identical weapons appeared on rooftops overnight without a centralized plan.
But not only this, Umar Khalid openly supported terrorists like Afzal Guru (responsible for 2001 Parliament attack) and Maqbool Bhat (one of the founders of the terrorist organization Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front).
He was also seen raising the slogan: Tum kitne Afzal maroge, har ghar se Afzal niklega ~ Umar Khalid.
It won't be hard for Tankies and dickriders of Umar Khalid to call these videos fake, but his support was well evident on his Facebook account too, where he praised Burhan Wani, who was a commander of Hizbul Mujahideen, an Islamist terrorist group operating in Jammu and Kashmir.
Now, back to the question about why is his trial getting delayed, the only people that are to be blamed is his team.
Because of massive backlogs, Indian courts usually schedule hearings 2 to 3 months apart. So every single time Khalid's lawyers ask for an adjournment (more time to study documents, or because their senior counsel is busy elsewhere), they are pressing a 90-day pause button. The case gets pushed to the back of the line.
Rather than pushing to start the actual trial, the defense has flooded the lower court with mini-petitions demanding unedited video footage, extra data logs, and challenging technical rules. The law requires the judge to resolve every single one of these first, grinding the main trial to a halt.
The clearest example of self-inflicted delay happened when Khalidās bail plea finally reached the Supreme Court. Instead of letting the judges rule, his legal team suddenly WITHDREW the petition entirely, choosing to RESTART the whole process from scratch in the lower trial court.
The judiciary saw through this tactic. In a definitive ruling, the SC formally denied bail to Umar Khalid and co-accused Sharjeel Imam.
The bench sent a crystal-clear message to the defense: prolonged pre-trial detention cannot be used as an automatic "trump card" to get bail if the accused persons themselves are the ones causing the delays.
Former CJI D.Y. Chandrachud also publicly noted that court records show multiple adjournments were explicitly requested by the defense, which contradicts the false narrative that the State is somehow responsible for dragging the process.
So um yea Tankies can cope but this guy deserves to rot in jail (and he will)
