Damn it's been soooooooo long since I've posted anything on this. I'm sorry. So much has happened in the world of Daytime High. So many shows and so many more songs. We have a couple new things in the works right now and I can't wait to share them with the world. I will try to update this more and keep anyone who is reading this in the loop, although I'm not sure anyone even knows this page exists because I haven't told anyone about it but either way stay tuned, there is so much more to come!

Hello, I'm here 😋

It's almost five in the morning and I can't sleep. I literally can't stop thinking about all these cool ideas for music videos were going to be making for these new songs we're putting together. I suppose that is a good thing, that I'm being productive, but damn I'm tired. Although I must say we only have a first draft of these new pieces and they already sound amazing. Probably some of the most beautiful stuff we've created this far.

I think when I’m working on new songs I’m going to start posting the lyrics as I write them over time so you can get a sense of how the end up changing through the process to better fit the song with regards to both the meaning and the the musical structure of the song. I'm probably gonna post an example of lyrics to a song we have now compared to the first draft of those lyrics. The changes can be really drastic sometimes. For example the first line of "Sing Me To Sleep" is "Your kiss is like the moment that the sunset hits the sea." Originally the line was "You don't know what your missing, cause you're too scared to come and ask for help." Had the first line not changed to what it is now the song and it's meaning would have been completely different. That first line places the song in a beach setting, a theme prevalent throughout the song. That line and setting then reminded me of someone and because of that that was who the song became about. From that point on the words just flowed out. That one line changed the song from what originally sounded like a more disappointed and sound tone to a really beautiful love song. I love looking back and analyzing my work like that and seeing the little steps I took that lead me to the finished product that I love. How one little train of thought I had sitting in my room resulted in something so much bigger. Something concrete and palpable.

So I'm working on lyrics right now and I had something really good earlier and it's not fitting now. But hey you can't force it right. Maybe I'm just trying to put it in the wrong song. This happens to me more often than you'd expect. Many parts in some of our songs were originally meant for other songs.
