The first rule is very simple: stay in your car. Do not leave your car to follow an animal. When you stay in your car, the animal will not decide that you are food. Sitka spruce trees are a common material for guitars. The Russians also used the trees to build ships and houses. In World War II, the tree served as a material to build airplanes.

Western hemlocks are shorter and thinner than Sitka spruce trees. They grow to about one hundred feet and are up to four feet in diameter. However, they also live for a long time, up to 500 years. Their leaves are wider compared to spruce leaves. Western hemlock loves to grow in areas where trees once grew in the past.

The Alaska Highway was built during World War II to connect Alaska to the forty-eight adjoining states.

On February 2, 1942, the U.S. Department of War contacted Brigadier General Clarence L. Sturdevant to arrange a gathering. Sturdevant worked as the Assistant Chief of Engineers and the department decided to construct a highway that would connect Alaska with the contiguous United States.

Because the United States was preparing to enter a war, the project didn’t take years of study. It took Sturdevant only two days to prepare a comprehensive construction plan.

The design provided a path for the military and a series of airbases from Fairbanks, Alaska, to Edmonton, Canada.

The Northwest Staging Route was created the year before. It consisted of a number of airstrips and radio stations in Alaska, British Columbia, and Yukon; yet, by 1942, the route was already above capacity.

These traps can be north of 700 pounds, making them extremely dangerous, especially when the ship is moving around quite a bit. For the catch to be legal, male king crabs measured less than 6.5 inches have to be put back into the sea, along with the young and female crabs. The vast majority of accidents (about 80%) results from falling into the water, which is of course extremely dangerous for various reasons. The first one is the landing. The crew member can hit their head or suffer a shock which makes the rescue process much harder.
