C H A R A C T E R ( S )
Name: David Francis Grant Lennox
Age: 54
Occupation: Businessman
Relationships (if any): Henry âHarryâ Lennox (son), Ava Watson (ex-wife), Aurora âRoraâ Cole (personal assistant)
Portrayal: Robert Carlyle
Self-made man, clawed his way up from nothing
Had a rough, abusive upbringing â think those   druggie parents from brba â you know the ones â except with Scottish   accents bc ofc heâs Scottish
He knows how bad it can get and he will never   be pushed back into the dust from which he came even if that means condemning   others to that same fate
Doesnât care about much in this world except   his son and occasionally his ex-wife
Has a love/hate thing going with ava tbh
Thereâs a good reason their marriage didnât   last
âBitch better have my moneyâ by rihanna is   basically his theme
David loves Harry with his whole heart the   problem is he trained himself to be heartless soooo ???????
He honestly has no idea how to connect with   his son
He thinks if he provides for him, heâs   basically done his due diligence
His own parents werenât exactly role model tbh   David honestly has no idea what heâs doing like kids?????
When he tries to relate to Harry, he usually   thinks back to all the stuff he didnât have and buys him something
But for the most part, Davidâs first priority   is doing his âjobâ (he confuses this with putting his family first a lot   tbqh)
Which is owning basically everything, if you   were wondering
Deep down, David fears connection and pushes   people away
He knows what itâs like to loose and heâd   rather at least be in control â if he pushes them away, at least he walked   away, they didnât leave?????
So thatâs super healthy
David was taken away from his birth parents   when he was 6
Tbh that was a good move on everyoneâs part   but much of the damage was already done so thereâs that
Not to mention, the removal itself was hella   traumatic, since it was done by the police during a raid of their home and   yeah so much therapy
Until, yknow, David stopped going #whoops
When he was nine, David was adopted by an   elderly couple, the Lennoxs, who, although poor, were considerably better   off than his previous situation
They were kind and wanted to lavish a lot of   love on David, but he was a severely damaged kid with anger issues and tbh   they were the first people he pushed away
When David was 13, he had proven himself quite   a troublesome child and his parents took him up to the great house where   they worked to get him a job, figuring that having something constructive   to do might help him form some direction
They werenât entirely off, they simply   misunderstood how it would effect him
David was entirely taken in by the lifestyle   displayed by the Cunninghams, for whom he knows did menial work
They were stately and elegant, and as far as   David was concerned, appeared to have no real worries in life â every   concern they did have, they handed off to a servant, such as himself, to   fix
David didnât just daydream about what that   might be like, however, he made plans
Say what you will about David, he was always   sharp as a tack
Even Mr. Cunningham used to say that
When he was 16, David ran away and went back   to his old hometown, where he had some contacts and got himself involved   with the kind of people who could move and shake quickly: the mob
His birth parents died in a horrifying house fire,   that month; no one really knows what happened and David never had it   investigated any further
David rose quickly â he was brutal and he was   efficient and he quickly discovered there wasnât much more to it than   that, if you were smart
When he returned to the Lennoxs, it was as an   adult
The Cunninghams had fallen on hard times (a   few strings pulled here and there had guaranteed their fall) and David   graciously offered to buy their ancestral home and lands in exchange for   the ready cash they so desperately needed
He evicted them promptly and moved in, Â Â offering to move the Lennoxs somewhere else
They refused to leave their home, much to his   chagrin â he insisted he wanted better for them; they insisted they had   wanted better from him
David left and never spoke to them again, Â Â though he has always provided for their financial needs
It was around this time, now a wealthy and   landed man, that he met Ava
It is only fair to admit that Ava roused a   passion in him
One no one â David included â seems to   thoroughly understand
He at once worships and reviles her and   somewhere between lies the truth
But love or hate, he has never felt anything   mild for her at all
And thatâs the story of how Henry Lennox came   into this world
When you get the three of them in a room   together, the sass is out of this world
David has holdings scattered here and there   but mostly he chooses to live in Washington
He wonât admit it, but the reasons are largely   sentimental
It was there that he was happiest, and he   couldnât quite bear to uproot his child they way heâd once been uprooted
Heâs been on a quest to buy up the town,   entire, since the day he decided to make this his permanent home (the day   Harry was born)
He owns basically everything and he wonât let you forget it
