2015 was the hottest year on record

This is what global warming looks like. Record after record after record, broken. The animation below shows the Earth’s warming climate, recorded in monthly measurements from land and sea over 136 years. The bright red line on top shows how 2015 just beat out the previous record—2014—by the biggest margin since modern record keeping began. Fifteen of the 16 hottest years have been in the 21st century.

You don't have to be a data expert to navigate between different views, make your own comparisons, and share your findings.

Only problem is navigating through all the variables/measures. Needs better navigation/exploration to find what you’re interested in... and then later you can mix and match variables from different categories together to tell stories (or make correlations that do not imply causation...)

Over a 40 year period (1964-2014), Australia has seen a woman elected as head of state for 1-4 years. That’s up to 10% of the graphed period.

Footnote states that among the 1-4 year category, there are 11 countries which had a female leader for less than a year - technically these areas should be the “0″ colour also. Why be lenient to the truth?

By 2050, Nigeria’s Population will overtake the USA’s

NEW population forecasts from the United Nations point to a new world order in 2050. The number of people will grow from 7.3 billion to 9.7 billion in 2050, 100m more than was estimated in the UN’s last report two years ago. More than half of this growth comes from Africa, where the population is set to double to 2.5 billion. Nigeria’s population will reach 413m, overtaking America as the world’s third most-populous country.
