therefore, darrow/sevro would easily be the most popular yaoi for their team and potentially one of the most popular for their generation of players. they have ALL the sauce. they are extremely close and seemingly inseparable best friends who are not afraid to be affectionate and emotional with each other. darrow is the generational talent but also a big sweetheart and sevro is a pokemon that he sends out to fight people. they have a massive size difference. it would be like throwing steak to the fujowolves. (it may mean nothing to any of you but they are very much like willm*ck which is a popular yaoi on MY team that i just really dont like. i tried to get it and i just don't)

as someone who heavily lurks online sports fandom i've really thought so much about what it would be like for the AU and i'm honestly kinda bummed i can't expand upon it in the fic itself much more than i already have. and the state of the rpf and devro being popular is one of my favorite aspects of it as it makes dassius that much funnier. darrow has SERIOUS gay allegations and a dedicated faction of rpfers who really believe that he might not only be gay (or bi etc) but also be banging another hockey player. and they are RIGHT. it's just that they got who he's banging wrong. and it happens to be a guy that they hope tears his ACL every time he plays boston.

i don't necessarily think you're wrong to start, like i agree w/ a lot of what is said here especially on the fact of pink usage being rape, the primary issue is that golds who use pinks are just not narratively treated as rapists. and there's the argument to be made that it's because golds don't see it as rape because they don't see pinks as human, but i think the main reasoning is because PB doesn't give pink usage the weight it deserves. i don't think he's legitimately considered the implications of pinks and it shows in how he writes and talks about them and at this point i would prefer he stays off the topic as a whole.

i don't really remember what all i've said abt my takes on gold sexuality before but hedonism and sexual promiscuity is generally considered normal and less taboo, but there are still sexual taboos in the society. nonconsensual sex between two golds is taboo but gold/lowcolor sex is only taboo if it's consensual? incest is, but perhaps at a lesser amount than irl (i think i remember most characters being pretty weirded out at the concept of it), and pedophilia is as well (hysperia garden stuff) these behaviors are what are considered hedonistic and weird by gold standards, and therefore those characters are treated narratively as sex pests. pink usage is typically not enough for the audience to consider them rapists, which i'm not saying is right but it's just my observations on the audience

but also to bring up other characters who use pinks, cassius is widely loved and a fan favorite despite the fact that he would be considered a rapist by way of using pinks. however, cassius doesn't receive nearly the level of vitriol from the fanbase. it's easy to say that's because cassius was afforded a chance at redemption while roque wasn't, but cassius was still generally liked in the first trilogy in spite of him being more evil and not having his redemption arc. the very glaring difference here is that cassius is masculine and a razormaster engaging in physical combat, which makes it easier for male readers to project upon, while roque is referred to as a femboy and is a fleet commander instead. you could even say it is because we as readers also feel betrayed by roque for when he betrays darrow, which makes sense, but that's also based on the assumption that cassius didn't betray darrow (which he did).

while i'll also say that lysander is subject to very offensive, cruel and unusual vitriol, mainly about him being a rape victim himself, but lysander is WAY worse than roque, and even he is still afforded nuanced discussion, while roque is not. and its a lot more common to see people say lysander is an excellently written villain or that he is your favorite villain, when it's not common to see that for roque even though they are BOTH excellently written antagonists. in more "normie" RR spaces i have only been met with some bullshit for saying that i love roque.

awooo its mostly first trilogy focused so i was gonna do all the popular characters from up to MS and then IG and onwards characters i'd do in their own series (so prob lyria eph lysander and maybe a second darrow w the red armor)
