but man think about what kinda hockey they were playing back then. it was some straight bullshit. the game has evolved an astronomical amount between gretzky's retirement and now and its basically a whole different sport. so even if nobody has broken his records since then (aside from ovechkin breaking his all time goals record) the playing field is just not the same. gretzky outperformed nhlers of his generation who probably don't make it past affiliate teams if they played today. while it wouldn't diminish what credit he deserves for revolutionizing the sport as a whole it's an interesting thing to think about.

anyway hockey yapping aside i think the lorn glaze is really similar because lorn is widely considered to be the greatest razormaster of all time, since he created the willow way and was unmatched even at his old ass age. but do not sit there and tell me that BoS darrow couldn't defeat lorn even at his prime... yeah we've still not seen that much of BoS but darrow is just fucking built different. and arguably razormasters who are considered on par with darrow (LIKE CASSIUS WHO ALSO BECAME AN OLYMPIC KNIGHT 10+ YEARS YOUNGER THAN LORN) would be in closer contention with lorn than most would believe. so like yes give lorn his credit for the willow way but everyone in the current spot in the timeline already knows the willow way and how to counter it, giving its users much less of an advantage that lorn would have had in his prime
