Some Ref sheets for the goobers, mostly made these because of the somewhat long break I took from touching a pencil so I could get back into the feeling I just inked and colored some sketches I made sometime ago

Thinking back on that one line from Deadlymelodic... that time was falling apart on AT-5 (at least, in the blood ocean).

That would mean that it's implied the Shadowman was just as confused to be back in the Iron Lung as Simon would've been to see him in there.

The Shadowman already lived and died in that torment. We have no idea just how far into the future he was plucked from. Shadowman was living groundhog day and probably freaking the fuck out just the same.

I mean, the tentative quietness, the way it just stood at the controls of the 13, unmoving, like it was in shock to see them again. Pacing the deck and interacting with things, only appearing when Simon was either unconscious or in a position where he couldn't see well.

Because I don't think the Shadowman wanted to be seen. He whips around to look at Simon like he'd been caught. It was wandering the vessel while Simon was lost in the Void for days, then vanished after being startled by Simon's sudden reappearance.

If this was future Simon, he'd have known that seeing the state of his body would've terrified him. Which means...

The Shadowman is not malevolent. And it is conscious enough to be aware of its own presence scaring others. It's not just a hallucination. It's not a projection and it's not a taunt. It's real, and Simon's still in there.

Which makes total sense given the Eye's track record with making monsters (e.g. the Eel), who remain entirely sentient and aware of who they once were.
