Watching or reading Bad Thing in media will then make you want to do Bad Thing in real life, therefor making you a Bad Person. Sure, let's pretend that's a truth universally acknowledged.
So by that logic, shouldn't the opposite also be true? Consuming media with Good Thing in it will make you do Good Thing and thus be a Good Person.
My Little Pony, Steven Universe, Avatar The Last Airbender, She Ra. All pieces of media with strong messages about the power of friendship, found family, the importance of second chances, togetherness, bravery, selflessness, responsibility, self love - the list goes on!
So by the above logic, shouldn't the people who watch those shows be some of the kindest, most open minded and open hearted people out there? Shouldn't those fandom spaces be totally chill, full of love and acceptance?
But anyone who's spent any amount of time in online fandom spaces over the years can tell you that's not the case at all.
So what gives? Watching all the fluffy friendship media in the world won't magically make you a good person, but reading one noncon fic will poison your mind and soul, and corrupt your morals enough to cause you to go out and commit rape in the real world?
Make it make sense.
