all of these are probably going to be bad btw

orange - i gave her dapple dualies bc of their short range, fast rolls, and the fact that there’s two of them, like her two boxing gloves. i also gave her splash wall to reference her hiding behind the walls when you first meet her, and super chumps, both because they’re a bunch of attacks that are individually very weak (like her punches when you first see what she actually looks like) and bc they kinda look like boxing gloves if you squint. i also just realized they kinda have a bandana like her, too.

yellow - i gave him the H-3 bc the yellow soul’s omega attack in undertale attacks three times before pausing. i gave him trizooka for the same reason, plus some autobombs to reference how blue guides his attacks when they fight the fun gang together.

green - it took me forever to figure out which main weapon to give them, until i remembered that their soul mode literally gives the soul a shield. i chose undercover both bc the shield doesn’t launch and bc the spy movie motif could parallel how they help both the flowers and the fun gang. (i’m sorry if this entire post is incomprehensible btw). i was originally going to give them tacticooler as a reference to their shops and tea, but then i remembered i could use fizzy bomb for that. instead, i gave them ink storm as their special, bc it rains down to heal people like the candy when they fight the fun gang with orange, and bc it’s circular, like the battle box during their omega.

aqua - i gave her the splatana wiper bc it’s fast, knife-adjacent, and hard to predict. i also gave her sprinkler bc it spins around like she does in an act and at the flower castle, plus it’s main purpose is painting stuff, which she does in the water behind the yellow door. i also gave her zipcaster for maximum chaotic movement.

blue - i gave blue the tetra dualies bc of their graceful movement. i also gave him the angle shooter to reference how he guides yellow’s attacks. i was originally going to give him ink storm for his special bc of his healing rain, but i couldn’t resist giving a character with butterfly wings the special that lets you fly.

seth - i gave them the snipewriter, both bc it’s lines kinda parallel the purple soul mode and bc it’s a pencil (which i only actually realized after thinking of the first reason lol). they spend a lot of time observing things, both humans to try emulating normal human behavior, and kris to try and defeat them. bc of this, i gave them point sensor and wave breaker (the latter is also a reference to how them jumping over aqua’s knives during that one fight).

IMPORTANT:

BEFORE I START

i just want to say i haven’t really been keeping up with the deltarune fandom for a long time, so if someone has already pointed pointed this stuff out, i’m super sorry. also i’m super sorry if this is all super obvious stuff that anyone could’ve pointed out.

ok so

the first thing i want to write about is how shadow crystal boss/secret boss soul modes and the battle icons seem related. in chapter two, we got a character (noelle) whose battle ui (i.e. her hp bar, the face icon next to her name, and the numbers that show up when she deals damage) are yellow. then in chapter four, we got a character (gerson) whose face icon next to his act is green. the secret boss soul colors of these chapters are the same color as these characters’ battle ui.

in chapter three, the shadow crystal boss uses the red soul, which seems to have nothing to do with this, but (i wanted to make this a cool reveal but idk how to so imagine a drumroll sound ig) when the knight attacks tenna, the damage numbers that appear are red.

idk if this is just a cool coincidence, or if it has to with something, but i think it’s cool. (also new thing i just thought: if dess is the knight, then she was probably thinking about noelle while making the chapter two dark world (because noelle was right there studying) and she was probably thinking about gerson while making the chapter four dark world (because she (probably) knew he was going to be there (it depends on if she and alvin like. discussed this beforehand or something). also, kris was probably thinking about the knight when making the tv world (because they had to tell tenna about the knight’s plan). so maybe it has something to do with the character the person who made the dark fountain is thinking about? idk).

ALSO WEIRD ROUTE SPOILERS:

(this is unrelated to the other thing btw). so it took me an embarrassingly long time to figure this out, but the thorn ring being made of thorns and having weird soul powers is probably related to how flowey wrapped vines around the monsters before his final boss fight in the pacifist route. and since a ring is wrapped around one’s finger, itd probably work similarly.

but who else has a weapon that wraps around them like that (this is something i was thinking about pre chapters three and four, when i thought that each chapter’s weird route would involve a different character)? kris has a sword, susie has an axe, and ralsei… has a scarf, which is wrapped around his neck and is probably much larger than a ring.

this probably has nothing to do with anything, but since he’s apparently always being mistaken for a flower, i thought that maybe it could mean something. (probably not though).
