The sunlight pierces through the curtains, catching the dust hovering in your bedroom. Its golden halo bathes you in light as you sleep peacefully, while Keonho just stares. He takes in the slight rising of your chest as you breathed softly, your slightly parted lips, your flushed cheeks and the messy hair that falls on your face, which his fingers lightly brush away.
When your dear boyfriend, oh so tired from practicing all day, called you late in the evening asking if he could come over, you didn't have the heart to decline. Of course, him sleeping over wasn't planned.
His fingers hover on your cheek for a moment, grazing it in slow, light motions.
He can only think of a word to describe you right now— pretty. Pretty pretty pretty.
Times like this are the only ones where Keonho can stare at you shamelessly without getting teased by his friends (basically just Martin-hyung and Seonghyeon; Juhoon-hyung and James-hyung didn't really care... well, they did, they just didn't show it. which was good for him, by the way), so he indulges.
You stir in your sleep, pulling the covers higher in an attempt to shield yourself from the chill that seeped in from under the door. Slowly, your eyes flutter open, and the first thing you feel is the familiar weight of your boyfriend’s body beside you.
“keonho…” you call out to him, your voice still thick with sleep.
“what is it?” he replies with the most delicate tone you’ve ever heard.
His fingers absentmindedly trace shapes along your arm, but they freeze the moment you turn around and your eyes meet.
“what time is it..?” you mutter, scratching your eyes.
He picks up his phone from the nightstand; “almost 9AM.”
“shouldn't you be at practice right now? james might scold you for being late again”
“nah, it's whatever” he hums.
Keonho reaches for your hand and brings it to his face, pressing his cheek against your palm as if he can't get enough of your touch.
"you're gonna get us in trouble" you sigh, though there's no real conviction behind your words. Your thumb strokes his cheek gently, and a small smile tugs at the corners of his lips.
Before you can reply, he buries his face in the crook of your neck and pulls you closer, his arms tightening around your waist. A quiet laugh escapes you as your fingers find their way into his hair, combing through the soft strands.
For an instant, the world seems to slow down.
Moments like these are rare. Between packed schedules, endless practices, and the constant fear of being recognized, neither of you gets to enjoy each other's company as often as you'd like. Getting caught would be a nightmare; but somehow, that risk has never been enough to keep you apart.
Keonho suddenly lifts his head, his wide, boba eyes finding yours.
"what?" you chuckle, cupping his face between your hands.
Instead of answering, he leans closer until the only things separating you are mere inches. For a while, neither of you moves, lost in each other's gaze. Then, as naturally as breathing, your lips meet in a soft, lingering kiss.
You both don't seem eager to pull away; not even when Keonho's phone starts ringing. And ringing. And ringing again.
With a groan, he finally reaches for it and answers.
"keonho, where the fuck are you?!" James' voice blasts through the speaker.
"good morning to you too, hyung."
"don't pull that shit with me. you have ten minutes to get to practice or i'm kicking your ass."
"alright, alright. i'm coming..."
The call ends before he can say anything else.
"he sounds pissed" you hum.
"yeah, you heard him" he sighs.
"you should probably get going, then"
"but i don't want tooo" keonho whines, immediately burying his face in your neck again.
A laugh escapes you. "come on, you big baby."
You gently take his face in your hands and press a quick kiss to the corner of his mouth. "i'll see you later, yeah?"
For a second, Keonho just stares, completely starstruck. The only response he manages is a small nod. God, he is so hopelessly in love with you.
You watch as he scrambles to get ready in record time. Just before stepping out the door, you call out for him one last time. "oh, and baby?"
The words leave your mouth so casually that it takes him a bit to process them.
And judging by the dumbfounded smile on his face as he leaves, he really does.
