If Tomodachi Life 2 were to happen, here's what I would change
Non-binary Miis and the ability to choose what genders your Mii is attracted to, allowing for gay/bi/pan/ace Miis. You can also change genders at any time, and multiple genders can be chosen.
Being able to create family trees so that the game knows who's related to who. I'm tired of being the Incest Prevention Department.
The kid/adult binary is erased. Instead, Miis are limited to dating Miis less than five years older or younger than them. That way, my parents will stop dating 20-year-olds.
A salon where you can use the wigs and makeup from Miitopia.
If the player Mii is 18 or older, swearing is totally allowed (won't happen, but one can dream)
If a single Mii confesses to someone who's already dating, it's pretty much a guaranteed rejection. The person being confessed to will either tell them they're taken, or their S.O. will come in and say it for them, leading to a love triangle situation. The chance of a Mii leaving their S.O. for someone else is extremely small.
Also, replace the word "Sweetheart." No one says that in real life.
Fun idea: Miis can enter platonic relationships. It happens in the same way that Miis become best friends, and Miis in a platonic relationship will have their partner's name on the screen replacing both the sweetheart and the best friend. Partners can move into Mii Homes. One Mii will ask the other to move in with them in the same way as a marriage proposal, and instead of a wedding, there's a montage of the two Miis moving in together. It's possible for any Mii to enter a platonic relationship with any other Mii regardless of gender or sexual orientation, but the chance is higher for ace Miis.
On a similar note, please make the proposal minigame less stressful.
Don't force me to watch your funny faces/impressions. Also, no looking in heads or bellies.
Stop asking me for money you'll never return.
Replace Catch with something less reflex-based. At the very least, make when they drop the object consistent.
If a Mii with a ponytail/pigtails puts on a hat, their hairstyle automatically changes to one with their hair down.
Miis' reactions to hair-color spray are no longer gendered. Everyone wants to dye their hair a COOL new color!
Unfun idea: There's always a chance of failure. If a Mii rejects another Mii's apology after a fight and then decides to make up later, there's a small chance they'll reject that apology, saying "You've already broken my heart. How can I trust you again?" Proposals can be rejected (resulting in their relationship going down two levels or possibly a breakup). If a Mii wants to break up with their S.O./partner, the partner can say no and force them to stay in the relationship (this will lead to sadness for the Mii wanting the breakup). A baby can be the opposite gender that you specifically asked for. Stuff like that.
With the absence of the kid/adult binary, there are no Age-o-Matics. Ergo, child Miis can't get married at all. Instead, they have to be engaged until both are 18. It's like dating, but single Miis can't confess to them. Yes, it can take years, and the marriage can be called off in the same way as a breakup.
Also, Miis can't date until they're 13. I don't like the idea of children children dating.
Last, no news flashes for number of problems solved. I'm trying to play the game here.
Now that I've gotten the chance to play the demo, here's what I've noticed.
Non-binary Miis have been added, as have dating preferences! No option for multiple genders, though non-binary Miis get a choice in pronouns and clothing.

Have no data as to what happens when a single Mii confesses to one who is taken. I have three Miis, and one of them is my brother.
No inclusion of the word "sweetheart" as far as I can tell.
No salon since the Mii Maker is already so robust.
No queerplatonic relationships, but the option for roommates is included, including the potential for a Mii polycule!
No idea what the proposal minigame looks like. I still hope it's less stressful.
Very little idea what the full breadth of minigames is going to look like. I really hope they replaced Catch.
No hair-color spray because of how many hair color options are in the Mii Maker
Age-o-Matics and Kid-o-Matics are still included, but their role might be different. I'm not entirely sure.
All of my Miis are adults, so I don't know if there's an age minimum for dating.
Lastly, the news report is going to interrupt me for annoying shit. It's part of the game at this point.
