đŠľMutual aid
Reach out to your neighbors â especially if you know they are staying home right now â and ask if they need groceries or toiletry items. Offer to pick up prescriptions, give rides, or shovel their driveway. If you know them well, bring them a treat that you know they'll enjoy. Or just ask them how they're doing and let them know you are there to support.
Connect with any of the orgs above and see if they are looking for volunteers.
Connect with a church or mosque in your area. From u/MuddieMaeSuggins: "I know a lot of regular Redditors are not religious (myself included) but like it or not this is a where a lot of community organizing happens, especially in immigrant communities."
Connect with your local school's admin office and/or their PTA. It's ok to reach out even if you don't have kids at the school. PTAs are organizing mutual aid for school families, safe rides, school observers.
đŠľActivism
Find an official protest or other event via Indivisible, 50501, FREE AMERICA, or MIRAC. Students at many high schools are staging walk-outs; if your local school is doing this, reach out to school leadership or the PTA and ask how you can support as a community member.
Join the effort to stop Hilton from housing ICEÂ by booking hotel rooms and then cancelling at the last minute. This action can be done from home! The effort is being organized by Sunrise Movement, who are telling activists to target specific hotels one-by-one. More info:Â SHUT DOWN HILTON
Find people in your area who are actively monitoring ICEÂ and/or stationing themselves in high-traffic areas and ask how you can help. Check for local FB events where people are organizing and just show up.
At minimum, read the COPAL Handbook before you go out to observe. The DFL, Monarca, and other orgs have been hosting online trainings for constitutional observers (though these fill up quickly).
When you see ICE in action, start recording. Be as loud and as disruptive as possible: honk your horn, set off your car alarm, blow your whistle. Let people know that ICE is in the area. If you see someone being detained, try to get their name and a phone number to call their emergency contact.
If you do not feel comfortable observing ICE in person, there are ways you can support from home. Just ask the people who are organizing in your area. I have social anxiety, and I had never participated in any kind of political action before this past Saturday. If I can do it, you can!
Local organizers are requesting that people who help monitor ICE DO NOT participate in 1-to-1 mutual aid efforts, as these can put the families you are helping at risk.
If you have friends/acquaintances who are sympathetic but not politically active, reach out to them. Show them that they're not alone in feeling helpless. Pick a few low-commitment actions from this list and do them together.
there is a fire in your lineage that refuses to dim, no matter how tightly you try to cage it. the wolf in your blood is not chaos for its own sake â it is fierce devotion, the kind that scars. your emotions arrive like a hunt: fast, merciless, and impossible to ignore. anger is your warning signal, passion your battle cry, and beneath it all lies a bone-deep instinct to protect what is yours, even at the cost of yourself. but this heritage carries a shadow. you fear the moment your strength becomes too much â when your voice becomes a snarl, when your courage turns reckless, when your love becomes something sharp. loyalty, for you, is a brutal thing: a pact forged through fire, blood, and survival, not soft sentiment. you were never meant to be lukewarm. you were meant to burn, to guard, to challenge, to ache. your greatest danger and your greatest power are the same â the wild, ungovernable heart beating in your chest.

general trek verse probably sees dan in medical with a specialty in operations? there's no real need for an orderly on a starship anymore, so i think he just tries to utilize his strengths wherever he can.

â you don't need an excuse. â people come and go, especially in the city, and lana ⸺ well, lana would be one to talk. reliable? yes. always. sociable...â it's always good to see you. how've you been? â
â you, too. â she's a sight for sore eyes â always providing him with a kind of clarity, a quiet against the backdrop of eager static. truth be told, he's been looking forward to this, the inevitable reunion, the eventual reconnection. he could always use the balm. â i can't complain. â he could, though â of course he could, but why waste the energy? â work's been good. steady. â
he takes a sip from his coffee and tents his brow thoughtfully. â what about you? â dan pauses, his smile twisting into a more teasing thing. â how's the glamorous life of lana lang? â
i love you, i've always loved you, i will always love you
it's commitment, it's devotion, it goes often without saying, but is felt nonetheless. it's accepting that you would travel to hell and back for them if they asked and knowing that they would do the same for you. it's an old ache, long after they've burrowed deep into your chest and settled there like a weight- grounding, an anchor point. even when you're apart, you can still feel the shape of them, it's like phantom pain. neither of you can help but succumb to the other's gravity, yet neither of you fear the collision. it means that you trust them, that they make you feel safe, that they feel like home.

HE DECIDED IT WAS FEAR.    fear, one more sister of guilt, and a not - too - distant cousin of doubt. the thing sat heavy on his neck, bending it forward, downward, until his eyes were fixed on anything else apart from that realization. he could already feel the swelling of muscle, the strain that was coming from a poor attempt at distraction, and a worse number of improvised posture. billy had given him these boots, and as he stared down at them, making patterns in the designs of the wear and tear, it struck him a second time  :  fear.   (   nothing wrong with being afraid, doc.   )   not dick, not his mother  â  it was john daniel edward torranceâs voice. such a rare occasion, that sound, one he often made certain to ignore, to see down the hall and straight on to the exit, yes, sir. right through here, mr. torrance. no room in the inn. but he listened now, remembering a far - off instance of training wheels and a worrying wendy who watched with blonde hair in a messy bun.
â    nothing wrong with being afraid, doc,    â      jack said, and danny shook his head. his hands gripped the trike his father had taken to calling a SPEED DEMON. he wasnât sure what it meant. he knew, though, that it sent panic through his mother that shot from her like firecrackers on the fourth of july. it was bright and sporadic. he didnât mean to cause her any worry. but danny felt love, too. there was a warm, radiating love between his mother and his father, and it was a love he knew, somehow, was meant for him. it made him smile. and so he did, up at his mother, then at his father. the bad word ( this DIVORCE ) was gone, so far gone now he hoped to forget it entirely. it would disappear like his red ball his father won him in a slot machine prize had after they moved here. he missed that ball, but he liked this SPEED DEMON better. it was red, too.
â    iâm not scared, daddy.    â      he was not a liar, but he did not want to see those sparks from his mother again, either. his smile widened.      â    honest! can we go now, mommy?    â      he craned his head toward her on the sidewalk. wendy put a hand to her cheek and shrugged her shoulders. she was laughing, though, and danny thought she looked like sunshine.
â    oh, go on. but hold on tight, will you, danny?    â      danny did.
for a brief moment, dan wondered if this was why his hands still felt hardened  â  squeezing with too - tight fists and with that same boyhood fear. his mother, the sun, his father, the moon, they were both long gone now, but heâd always found them one way or the other. his mother, in the spring, his father, at the bottom of a bottle. he didnât realize it, but his knuckles were that familiar lack of color, that whiter shade of pale. coming here, coming to this town, it was all for a reason, it had to be. even if tony had been a flicker of light, even if heâd fallen off that bus instead of walking from it, frazier was where he needed to be. for all his years running from himself, useless as it was, there had to be a point where he looked in the mirror and saw with earnest what looked back. he never anticipated to be standing outside of his first meeting like this, wringing his palms like a sinner in a sermon, but here he stood. afraid, guilty, prepared to be judged for   (   CANNY   )   all that heâd done   (   MAMA   )   and wondering if this chance was what he truly deserved. would someone forgive him? had his mother forgiven his father?
â    oh, go on.    â      he heard wendy say. dan glanced to the door of frazier methodist church. she was behind his back, or maybe she wasnât. it was getting harder to tell these days. without the drink, what shined and what haunted?
â    what if i canât?    â      his voice was hoarse in his own throat. the man who was once the boy called danny shook his head in time with a ghost.
â    hold on tight  â      â      he released the clench of his hands, watching the tremors ease out over the veins there. blood eased back beneath his skin and he swallowed so thickly he thought he may choke out a sob.
he took a step forward with billyâs boots, then another. it was the most difficult the task had ever been sober. dan moved a hand over the doorknob, it was brass and he could see a warped version of himself staring back. just one turn was all it would take. he could do it, he could take that plunge, and find the reason heâd been waiting for.   (   will you, danny?   )   and as he drew in a deep, swollen breath,  DANNY DID.
