Build it they said. And she will cum... or something like that.

When she handed me her leather bound book emblazoned with worn gold leaf, I knew she offered me her most precious gift.

My rough hands soften against her spine, where I felt life's cruelty had nearly broke her binding. I saw her linen pages pulled, folded, torn and tattered by the careless ignorant hands of those she had trusted.

I held her gently. Saddle soaping the weathered edges of her covers and binding. Waiting for her to open and turn me to the pages she needed attention.

I brought her to my face and inhaled deeply. The neglect. The abuse. The disregard. Slowly deliberately I spread her pages to steam and sage. Softening the dry neglected pulp of her narrative.

Laying her upon my lap i waited for her to feel like herself as my fingers traced her embossed gold leaf. Patiently.

The blessing is awareness and the ability to choose how I move forward.

The curse is recognizing that most of the world is ignorant, suffering and unable to find the healing they deserve.
