who i am

I’m beyond livin’ it up, dude, this is a fucking dream! Never in a million years did I think my life could turn out like this or that I’d even still be here but I am and my life is amazing and I’m just feeling blessed right now, you know?

No date yet, it’s tricky. Some of Charlie’s family lives overseas and arranging it so the important people can make it and all that…it’s complicated but we’ll get there. 

I can tell, you look really happy Dani. Most of us dream to have what you and Charlie have. It is something really special. 

Ruby: How much of what you show them is a persona and how much of it is you? Weird question probably, but I'm curious... There's the whole knowing vs. not knowing thing, so I wonder how much of you they really get to see.

Ruby: I think... I've been through properly scary things, so being recognized on the street isn't going to be the worst thing, especially since you told me it could happen. And I'll just be nice to people that are nice to me. Simple, right?

Ruby: I'm going to keep texting anyway. :P

Danny: It's probably 50/50. I have the same personality, but my YouTube persona is a lot more confident and extra than I really am. I feel like I take personality traits that I have and double them when I'm on stage.

Danny: That seems like a good way to handle people coming up to you. I wouldn't think that someone would come up to you and be rude, but you never know.

Ruby: Does that ever get to you though? The whole fandom thing, people feeling like they own a piece of you... or maybe just want to.

Ruby: I'm not sure. I think... I have to be if I want to keep getting to know you, which I definitely do. I'm not going to pretend that part of it won't be weird at first, but I'm not scared of it, I guess?

Ruby: I'll come by. Let me leave him a note or something.

Danny: It does sometimes because I am my own person and I want them to realize that. They "know" me, but they don't know me. IF that makes sense. I do have great fans for the most part though, the majority of them are really happy for us.

Danny: The attention is part of getting to know me and I'm sorry for that. It's good that you're not scared of it, but don't worry I won't push you further into the YouTube scene than you want to be.

Ruby: I can take whatever animosity comes my way. Because I really like you too, so... if you've got fans who feel threatened by that, I don't know what to tell them. I'm not going anywhere.

Ruby: So in theory, I'm about to become minorly famous for existing? Weird.

Ruby: I think I'm going to text him... remind him I came home tonight. Go to their place, don't bring them back here please.

Danny: Well, you tell them exactly that. That you're not going anywhere. They're get used to it eventually, just give them a little time.

Danny: Basically. It's a weird feeling. Are you okay with it?

Ruby: Some of the fans didn't seem so keen on me being around. I think they saw me as competition for your affections.

Ruby: Is it a little weird that I want to hide my head at the thought of being in so many pics? Tell me I look good in them. I'm be embarrassed otherwise.

Ruby: I hate thinking about it, but I'm pretty sure he's out trying to get laid. He's been lonely.

Danny: I noticed that and I don't condone it. They think that because I share my life online that I belong to them in some way and obviously since I really like you, you're kind of a threat to that.

Danny: That's not weird at all. It is a little overwhelming having so many people know your face, before you know it people will be stopping you on the street lol, I'm just kidding... Kind of.

Ruby: Thanks for the invite. It's this whole world I knew nothing about, so that made it super interesting.

Ruby: And you were there, which is always a plus.

Ruby: I expected Eduardo to interrogate me when I got back, but he's not even home.

Danny: It's really refreshing to be with someone who doesn't know what the whole YouTube scene is about. It's a really strange world, where your fans know almost everything about you, but it's so fun and I'm glad I got to share that with you.

Danny: I think you being there made it funner for me and for my fans. I've been tagged in literally thousands of pictures of us on Instagram lol.

Ruby: I thought I'd be able to crash the second I got home, but I'm too wired. I can't sleep at all.

Ruby: Tell me you're awake too?

Dani: Yo, nerd! You need to drop an n dude, I only got the one.

Dani: If you're not taking no for an answer 1) why are you asking and 2) are you out of your fucking mind?!

Danny: I know that, but if you add an "n" to your name it kind of combines our variations of Dani/ny.

Danny: Yo my fellow Danni.

Danny: Come with me out to Vidcon on the 20th and sing Close with me on stage.

It certainly sounds like it, I’ve got coworkers who go. Fan.

Well if you ever end up at VidCon and I’m there let me know. I’ll pull a few strings and help you meet your favorite YouTuber if you’d like. 

One of these days I will get to VidCon, but this year is not it.

VidCon is great, it’s worth the trip out to Cali for it. Are you a creator or a fan?

Yeah, hopefully she will. She’s incredibly talented and would sound so much better on Close than my friend who I recorded it with.

I do want to go, but I don’t want you spending money on me or anything if that’s what it would take. But then I also would love to get back to California, maybe drive up to my hometown? But then I’m also waiting for news from my school.

It’s totally up to you if you want to come to Cali with me or not. I honestly don’t mind buying you a ticket, to me it’s worth it. I think it would be a fun trip and we could stay a couple extra days to sightsee, even though you grew up in California and I’ve been there a million times.

I have someone in mind, but she’s not exactly a session singer. She’s just super talented.

Where is VidCon? I think you told me, but I can’t remember if it’s in New York or if it’s in another state I wouldn’t be able to get to to see you.

VidCon is a huge convention for YouTubers to meet their fans and I’m one of the featured creators. It’s not in New York, it’s in Anaheim California, but if you wanted to come that could be arranged...
