How much did it cost you to 3D print reapfield? Or rather, how much would it cost if we didn't know someone w/ a 3D printer?
Hi. A number of people have pinged me about this so here's my fullest public response. For a single reapfield exactly like this one, including shipping to the UK and taxes, (made on an individual scale) cost me £47 GBP. Most of the cost comes from the velvet fuzzy flocking that was applied and shipping. (£19.50 for the flock body, £12.01 for the polished face, £7 shipping and 21% tax). One way to make it cheaper would be to make it out of cheaper materials and paint the body black yourself. For example, low resolution printing with white rather than black tends to be much much cheaper, but as it's not polished the quality looks a bit naff. Shipping costs come down dramatically too on a larger scale in theory it's probably possible to get the cost down to £40 + royalties on a large enough batch. All this aside, I feel I'd also need permission from @markraas if these were to be sold on as it is his character. If there's enough interest at that price and somebody promises it's all legal from an intellectual property point of view, then I might do a small batch run and stick it on etsy or perhaps kickstarter to understand the demand. Note the above numbers reflect the manufacturing cost, there is no mention of royalties for markrass which one should expect. Or if he's even ok with this being done at all. There's also cost of me getting off my butt and doing this (mostly individual re-shipping).So to summarise there's two this can go. 1) A one-off just for you, 2) or a batch run to be sold on kickstarter. Let me know if you're still interested and I'll look into how this can be done with @markraas's permission.
Love the @markraas reapfield character so much I commissioned my friend to make a 3D model of this little dingleberry, then got him 3D-printed with a black fuzzy velvet surface (they call it flocking!). Too much soulagna! Posting the 3D sketches/renderings if people are interested in that kinda thing.
