I had the pleasure of making some puppets for the artist / animator @jarrodprince . The puppets are based on the two lead characters of an animated pilot he is working on called Olive Place. I know I'm getting ahead of myself designing another character before I have finished my current puppet, but I couldn't help myself! I haven't got a name for this guy. I've completed the prototype pants for Jack and they are a success! It was quite a challenge making these trousers as Jack's feet are wider than his legs. So rather than making a pair of puffy pants, I placed zips on the outer side of each pant leg. I'll now have another go making these pants using my good fabric! I wanted to do an illustration of a lesser known historical figure in the West. After a bit of research I discovered an interesting Queen by the name of Aminatu. Aminatu was an African Muslim warrior Queen. Her kingdom was Zazzau (now known as Zaria.). There is debate amongst historians as to whether Aminatu lived in the 15th or 16th century. My illustration of Aminatu quickly morphed into a comic book cover. I had real fun creating the Arabic inspired typography.
