My New Oily Life

Currently diffusing- lemon and peppermint to help me study and retain information. I am about to start my spring term tomorrow so I decided to get a jump start on my online classes, and what better way to study and do homework?

The four oils are my new purchases from YL! They arrived today and I was so excited to start using them.

Lavender- I had to buy a larger bottle because I quickly burned through the small one that came in my Young Living starter kit. I use it in my daily face serum, in my diffuser to help me sleep at night (I have a slight case of insomnia), topically whenever I feel anxious or just want to relax, or before tests (with stress away) and for MANY other things. I LOVE lavender essential oil. It’s magic in a bottle.

Rosemary- This is a brand new oil for me but, from what I’ve read, it has so many awesome benefits. Lately I have been super into skincare, especially my face. Rosemary is great as a face cleanser as it helps to reduce acne and has anti aging properties. Rosemary also has great benefits for your hair. Rosemary essential oil also helps boost your immune system and has many other health benefits. Lastly on my list, rosemary has great anti-inflammatory properties.

Cedarwood- Once again, this is an oil I purchased for skincare, but it also has many other benefits. Cedarwood is great for the skin! It helps make your skin look smoother and helps cure acne. It is an oil I plan on adding to my everyday face serum. Cedarwood is also great to use on your hair to help make it shiny. 

Citrus Fresh- I purchased this oil specifically for consuming with my hot tea or water. It not only gives your drink a great flavor, but it has health benefits. This oil, (as well as lemon and lime) is great to detox your body. This oil can also be used when cooking. I also plan on using this oil in my diffuser to give the air in my small dorm room a clean and fresh smell. 

I am still new to essential oils, so I always research what benefits oils have and how to use them. I recommend doing the same. I am sure there are MANY more benefits to each oil I have talked about which is why I encourage doing some research.  

On Tuesday, Feb. 20th, I woke up with mild cold symptoms. At first I thought it was allergies so I used my allergy bomb. It didn’t help much, and as the day went on my symptoms got worse. This is when I realized it was not allergies (no wonder the allergy bomb didn’t do much). I had a freaking cold! 

Anyway, the first night was rough, I was extremely congested and my throat was so sore, it felt impossible to get some sleep. Keep in mind I’m new to using my oils, so my knowledge on them is still slim. I expressed my concern on Facebook and, thankfully, the woman who introduced my sister and I to Young Living responded. Her instructions were to diffuse Thieves and R.C, and to rub R.C on my chest (I diluted it with sweet almond oil). This felt like magic, I was able to sleep!

Today is Thursday, Feb. 22nd. I am in the last stages of my cold and it has definitely been the shortest cold I’ve ever had. I have been taking cold medicine (Tylenol cold and flu) but I have been rubbing a blend of Thieves and peppermint (diluted) on my feet and back of my neck, diffusing Thieves oil and R.C everyday, as well as purification to clean the air in my dorm room.

Many people are skeptical when it comes to essential oils, I know I was, but I have never beat a cold this fast. I can’t deny that they work wonders. I absolutely love my oils! 

Hi! I’m a newbie with YL and essential oils all together. I got my starter kit on January 26th of 2018, so almost a month now, and I am absolutely obsessed! I am someone who suffers from migraines, year round allergies, dry skin, and insomnia, and I am so happy to say that YL changed my life. The starter kit comes with 11 oils and a diffuser both which I use on a daily basis for aroma therapy, skin care, topical use, and even by consuming it. I will be starting a journal to kind of keep track of how I use the oils, how certain oils affect me, and to post recipes that I am trying and absolutely love!
