He watches her examine his hand with his own mild curiosity to her reaction. Not many on this ship reacted so strongly to his android nature anymore that it was fascinating to observe someone learn this information for the first time.

My creator was driven to create a perfect android, and thought it necessary that I pass for human as possible, save for my... coloration. If I am so convincing, perhaps it is fair to say his work 'paid off' in that respect.

He keeps his hand open for her to idly caress, the sensation of her touch oddly relaxing.

I will be off-duty after Delta shift this evening, if you are an 'early riser' and would like to join me in my quarters while i work on some of my unfinishes pieces?

I will also be sure to put in a request for your proposal to teach while you are aboard, however long that may be.

He notices her focus seeming to drift off. He quirks his head slightly, analyzing her expression for the most probable emotional state. the result seems to be "catatonic".

Miss Evans? ... Miss Evans, do you require assistance?

her heart starts beating faster as she listens to the sound of his voice. her mind conjures fantasies of the two of them alone in a romantic setting.

Mmmm...

she bites her lip & gets a seductive look in her eyes as the fantasy continues to turn in her mind.

this goes on for a few seconds more before she comes back to reality. her face blushes with embarrassment as she realizes where she is & who she's with. she quickly moves her hands back to her side of the table.

Oh! No... yes... no... Sorry. I'm fine. I'm sorry, Mr. Data. I would very much like to work on some paintings with you.

He gets up to leave, gently gathering his PADD from the table.

I am afraid I must attend my night watch duties. Will I see you at 0600 hours? Or perhaps later in the morning would be preferable?

His head quirks in that way he's become known about the Enterprise for, sunflower eyes trained unblinkingly on Dani.

I can have coffee and pastries, if that would be a way to offset the early morning hour. Or raktanjino? Or tea?

He seems to be falling over himself to think of every possible way to make sure you, a wildcard variable, are accounted for and catered to.

It isn't until her hand reaches out for his that the stream of possible breakfast ideas finally ceases. He blinks in mild surprise and simply at her hand for a spell.

I apologize. I do tend to 'babble', as the Captain puts it.

Yes, 0600 is fine with me, Mr. Data. And coffee with pastries sounds lovely. I look forward to meeting with you.

she's elated that he wants to spend time with her, but her knowledge of the ship is very limited since she's not had much time to explore the different decks. she doesn't want to wander into an area that's off-limits to non-Starfleet personnel.

Um... what deck are your quarters located?

My quarters are located on Deck 2, near the turbolift. If you are lost, the Enterprise computer will be able to guide you, simply as for directions and follow the panels along the walls.

He smiles slightly, finding himself anticipating having a partner to actually paint with.

I must bid you a good evening, Miss Evans, but I look forwards to our "date" as it were.

He pauses a moment, as if processing something, then brings her knuckles to his lips for a small kiss. With a awkward smile, he turns smartly on his heel and heads for the door, already evaluating which of his paintings would be the best to finish. Or maybe start something new entirely?

He takes one last look before the sliding doors of Ten Forward closes to see Dani's heat signature elevated well above normal in her cheeks. He would be only lying to himself if he wasn't already excited about the prospect of cultivating a new friendship.

her heart beats faster as he takes her hand in his & gently places a kiss on it.

she's thankful that she's sitting down as her knees would surely give out on her if she were standing up.

her pulse is racing as she watches him walk to the exit of Ten Forward. she feels excitement as she thinks about meeting with him in the morning for their "date."

she gives him a little wave with her hand as he leaves the room.

she places the hand that he kissed on her chest & lets out a sigh. she picks up her book from the table & fans herself with it after he's gone.

she waits a few minutes to give herself a chance to cool down & regain her composure before making her way to her own quarters.

It is 0546.

Spot has been fed and is contentedly purring on his workstation in the small bed set there for her.

He sits at his easel, drawing long strokes to lay down the base of a scene he's not quite sure of yet.

On the small table of his charitably described "living room", he has set a modest assortment of pastries and fruit. He presumed a small, light spread would 'hedge his bets' for what she might prefer in the mornings, while the replicator would ensure anything warm would stay that way.

The idea occurs to him of a portraiture of Spot while his subject lie (relatively) still in her sleep. Getting up with all his own feline grace, he quietly arranges some of his prized possessions around her: his violin, his book of the complete works of Shakespeare, and with some hesitation, the Holoimage of Lieutenant Yar.

Settling back down to his paints, Data work in earnest to capture the broad details of the scene while Spot rests, waiting for his companion to arrive.

she stops in front of the door to Data's quarters & reaches out her right hand to the panel by the door. she notices that her hand is shaking. she runs her hand through her hair & smooths down the front of her lavender colored blouse to try to quiet her nerves.

she chose the blouse with matching pants to complement her skin tone. she hopes she made the right decision.

Dani reaches her mostly steady hand out again & touches the door chime to announce her arrival. she feels excited at seeing him again, but also a little anxiety at not being in a social setting.
