Donnie, who had been hellbent on turning your old iPod into a bomb for the last hour, glanced up at you. “What?”
“You know… Robby.” You stared at him, thumbing the Deer Sonny Angel in your hand. “The thing I’ve been talking about for the last 20 minutes.”
He stared at you blankly. “Ah, yes. A Robby.” He turned back to your iPod.
You huffed at him. What kind of boyfriend was he? He didn’t listen to your interests (even if those interests were overpriced plastic) and he only came over to ransack your apartment for old devices you never threw away.
You glowered at your desk for the next ten minutes, adding new shiny gems to your deer.
“For my birthday on Wednesday, I’m probably heading out with some friends for the day.” You glared daggers in his direction, testing him. “So, we can plan something for Thursday instead.”
“Sounds reasonable to me.” He threw your iPod down on your fluffy carpet and curled up in your equally as fluffy blankets. If you were in a better mood, you’d take a few pictures of a muscled mutant turtle ninja curled up in your girly bed. But now, you fumed silently as you plastered new shiny gems to the Sonny Angel.
Donatello’s days were numbered.
You ignored his texts for the next few days, purposefully angering him when you showed up to Raph’s invite for some cooking with Mikey.
Donatello had walked in, stared at you, then walked back out.
Yeah, you’re petty. Whatever. Maybe he should learn to listen to your woes about blind box gambling.
You spent your birthday with your friends, the human ones, and stuffed your face with food and took some cute pictures. But, your feelings were still hurt. You walked back home to your apartment, wondering if Donatello was still willing to celebrate with you the next day with how you had been treating him.
Your phone buzzed as you unlocked the door. Leo had sent you a photo of a bunch of wrappers all over Donnie’s lab bench. You squinted at it and closed the door behind you before screaming when someone cleared their throat.
You threw your phone at the figure in your living room, only realizing once you had let go of your phone that it was Donnie.
Luckily, he caught it. He raised an eyebrow at you.
“Oh my god.” You slid down your door, breathing heavily. “Dude.”
“Bro,” he mocked you. He walked over and easily lifted you to your feet, smothering you in a tight hug. “Happy Birthday.”
“Thank you.” You immediately melted into his arms, content. “I missed you.”
“You wouldn’t have if you hadn’t ignored me for the past few days.” He grumbled, shivering as you nuzzled closer into his neck.
“I was not,” you lied. He pulled away and rolled his eyes.
“No matter. I finally figured out what had you upset in the first place.” He smirked, grabbing your wrist and tugging you to your bedroom.
Oh? What plans did he have for you in there? You mentally kicked your feet, giggling hysterically as he shouldered open your door.
But instead of seeing your cozy bed, you instead saw naked angels all over your bed.
“I did it.” He placed his hands on his hips and stared down at the mess of all plastic on your bed. “After $500 dollars, I found him.”
“What?” You picked up a lion Sonny Angel you had wanted, cooing at its little face and ears.
You looked over and there it was. A Robby. And also a concerning amount of smoke coming out of his battleshell.
“Donnie…” You burst into tears. “You’re…”
“Amazing? Wonderful? The best boyfriend ever that you regret ignoring for the past few days? A boyfriend who you will let collect all your old ipads… iphones… apple watches…”
“You’re smoking!” You shrieked. The mutant turtle froze.
10 minutes later, with the whole building outside due to the fire alarm, you found out that he had snagged one of your apple watches when you had left for your birthday dinner with your friends. Without telling you.
“You’re the worst boyfriend ever.” You cradled the Robby in your hands delicately. “But I suppose I can forgive you. Thank you, Donnie. You sure have made this birthday memorable. I guess.”
He coughed out a plume of smoke. “You’re welcome.”
