Touya (Dabi) Todoroki x reader (Band AU)
You that thing some writers do where they write everything down and then start over again at the last minute? I did that because I hated it. By the way all of these aren't romantic if that makes sense

You push past the crowd as you try to get to your practice space, it was nice going to an academy that specialized in different things, especially since you were learning to be a singer. The “school” taught everyone the basic information on their particular area of show business and what to do, music classes, writing classes, and group or individual study. Having trained professionals willing to teach everyone safe ways to navigate their particular path. You were learning to front a band, your group since you started at the academy was a lovely group and everyone got along great, but you knew that was a rare case.
Standing in your vocal class you bow trying not crash into the door as your body catches up to the sudden pause. “Sorry for my late arrival.”
“L/N, you’re not even late just get in here.” The new teacher shakes their head.
You find your seat and frown when Todoroki snickers, kicking him swiftly under the desk you turn away from him not even wanting to be bothered by him again. “Huh? You trying to act all cool and collected y/n?”
“Shut up Touya, some of us need to produce results.” You hiss keeping your eyes on the board. But it wouldn’t be long before it was time for practical use. Singing in front of everyone, working on range and within one’s range was the goal of the class.
“Right, right, sorry your highness.” He sasses as you click your tongue.
“Everyone has their water, right?”
A chorus of yeses fill the room before it was time. It would probably be ten minutes before the teacher got to them, so they stayed quiet. You did what was asked when it came time and received a quick nod, but when it was Touya’s turn, you blink. What’s wrong?
After the class finished you nudged him gently. “Hey, you got free period too, right?”
Nodding he fixes his bag over his shoulder.
“I know a cafe nearby that has really good tea.” You grab his hand lacing your fingers in his and yanking him along, the slight squeak of your shoe’s echoes down the hall despite the noise from everyone’s ambiance. “You sound way worse than yesterday, what the hell happened?”
Touya’s hand was larger than yours and his grip was firm, you didn’t miss the slight pull when he hesitated. “Nothing.”
“Look, I’m asking cause I’m worried. Your little brother is doing idol work isn’t he?” You tilt your head a bit confused. “That’s gotta be stressful.”
“He didn’t want it, the old man forced him.” He clicks his tongue.
“You mean like he forced you and Natsuo?” You hum, you only remembered because your parents also tried to get you to do it, well your dad. When your mother found out she nearly beat him half to death on the street, the public divorce wasn’t very fun.
He seemed to think for a moment. “We got into, my dad and I, Shoto should get to enjoy his life before everything you know.”
“You really care about him, that’s what I like about you.”
“My voice doesn’t sound worse.” Circling back to your comment he was probably hurt.
You shake your head. “It does and I thought I was gonna go insane trying to figure out why you were trying to trick the new coach.”
“They want me to growl, and I’m not built for that.” He shakes his head.
“Excuse me you’re perfect for it, just don’t blow out your chords alright? You promised to collab with us for the next assignment.” You stick out your tongue but this time he stopped.
His grip on your hand was still firm and you turn to look at him. “I’m gonna crash at your place.”
You nod. “Damn only one week of having the apartment to myself. Everyone else is staying at the school cause they wanna get stuff done.”
“Really? The dorms aren’t all at comfortable.” He shakes his head finally moving forward, you smile.
“Wait, how exactly are they trying to teach you how to growl that it’s fucking up your throat?” You nearly stop in your tracks but of course that had to be when the two of you were crossing the street, Touya tugs you across to the other side of the crosswalk.
He frowns as he shakes his head at you, you were used to being in situations around him but it could be what it was. Getting some warm tea and honey instead of focusing on the state of his voice you talked his ear off, many different things were changing when it came to your ensemble.
“Rin said that shes practically strumming in her sleep, practicing day and night to get this season’s project finished. I caught myself mumble singing the words recently and honestly I’m not even surprised, Tenko offered that we do a collaboration, what do you think?” You finally look at him the empty cup in his hands as he was staring through you or was it at you?
Waving your hand in his face you wait for him to blink before snapping back to reality. “‘s not a bad idea. Come on we gotta walk back to class.”
“I have music theory, I can only hear certain tones so much.” you complain throwing away your disposable cup, going toward the counter for a second time. “Um can I get some of that tea to go please?”
With your thermos filled with tea the walk back was a bit more of a sprint. Before breaking off to leave Touya at his creative writing class you slip the container into his bag.
At the end of the day you yawn not prepared for the night ahead of you, you didn’t have classes the next morning but you did have homework to finish and other things to do. Touya sits on the counter, he frowns holding the empty thermos.
“Stop treating me like a kid,” he sighs placing it in the container in the sink.
You smile as you pinch his cheek. “You know I do it because I like you, Dabi.”
