Nae'ja’s eyes strayed to the top of the ship, as they had done many times before when she found herself in need of solace. Surely one of her former fellow acolytes would recognize the dancer, but did she want them to?
As night rapidly fell, her resolution grew while the crew mounted the stage and the expectant crowd gathered. As the first chords sounded, the cheerful gnome that acted as Master of Ceremonies jumped off the short wooden platform to let the moonlight do its dazzling tricks on the tattoos of Silva, their elven singer.
The soft Azerothian voice mesmerized the audience when, unexpectedly, her tongue shifted from common to draenei as the melody drifted into a different song. Hearing the crowd’s soft murmurs of amazement from behind the curtains, Nae'ja steeled herself a second and relaxed, giving herself strength to take the crowd by surprise.
She thanked the Light that she had remembered that old song from her youth on Draenor; the troupe learned it effortlessly, giving the performance a special nostalgia that the Exodar’s citizens were sure to enjoy. It was only because of the song’s familiar warmth that she could immerse herself in the music and dance without worries, burying them in the distant past where they rescued the song from.
