Here I Stand

”I have spoken to you way too many times brother.”

"Don't lie to yourself."

He ignored his question. Having attempted to put an end to his existence, he knew too well how immortal he was. He sniggered at his following words however. “I look like shit, dad.” He smirked, taking a deep breath of the smoke before offering it to his father. “Surprised you recognise me though.” Sleipnir left his family on…rough terms to say the least. He was a monster, full of vanity and pride, thought himself above the rest for some reason. “How you uh, how you been?”

"A great steamin' pile a shit then,"He offered, glancing down at the offered smoke. He raised a hand, shaking his head a bit; he would rather not at the current moment. "How could I not know my own son? It's not often I get to see you anyway." Gabriel hardly cared that the other had left on harsh terms; it was in the past. Sleipnir was here right now, so might as well act casual. "I went underground for awhile after you left an' I've just gotten around to coming back to the surface." Like the younger immortal needed to know he'd died."Nothin' else really. Been pulling some strings with mortals every now and again of course."

"Well I don’t really want to share you anyway." Dean stepped a little closer, wrapping a hand around Gabriel’s wrist. 

He tilted his head a bit,"Oh? Now Dean that's not one of the many, heavenly virtues."

"Months?" Dean blinked before responding. "Where the hell have you been? We thought you died!"

Gabriel raised his hands in his defense, eyebrows still quirked up pretty far. "Obviously there's a big time delay. Maybe I'm jet lagged."

"But still what?  Am I supposed to come up with another ridiculous and possibly outlandish reason for you to say things and mean another?"

"If it makes you feel better. I didn't plan to explain any further."

"Then why aren’t you trying to put me back?"

"Curiosity killed the cat."

He smiled. “Well perhaps I can satisfy that curiosity sometime.” Sam suggested softly, tilting his head and eyeing the other. Somehow the man, this ‘Gabe’ didn’t seem like enough of a threat to worry about keeping his secrets cloaked tight around himself.

"Because you’re Gabriel.  You don’t need a reason beyond that, little trickster."

"Alright, so that may be true but still."

"What do I win?"

"A wish granted of your choice. So far you seem the only taker."

Sleipnir rolled his eyes. “Wow…you haven’t gotten any smarter since I walked out have you?” He sighed, pressing a cigarette to his lip and snapping his finger, allowing for the end to light up. “It is a lonely existence we live Loki. Being immortal and all.”

"Now do you really think we are immortal?"He crossed his arms, lazily giving his son a once over. "You're lookin' pretty good for yourself.I think walking out did you some good."

"Are you serious? It’s been years. We thought you were dead, man."

"Years? I've only been gone a couple of months."
